About 2 weeks ago I bought a 1995 240sx five-speed with just about 95.000 miles on it. Originally I had plans of swapping an SR20DET into it but now my dad is being kind of iffy about it because of emissions testing in Texas. If you know, Tx isn't as harsh as say... California, but we do have to pass, just not something as strict as "smog." Anyways, would the SR20DET pass 1995 emissions? Does anyone know? If I bought the A'Pexi boost controller and dropped it down to 5 or less PSI while on the emissions dyno would that change anything? If I custom fabricated a USDM 240sx catylitic converter into a downpipe from the turbo would it pass? Or should I just not waste my time and run up to O'Reilly's and buy "Gauranteed to Pass" to put in my gas tank? I need help here, hehe. Thanks.

It should pass with a cat, and I wouldnt worry about the boost controller because they don't really floor it when the test it, just get it up to speed on the rollers.

They might try to hook into OBDC which could cause some confustion.

I know a few people here in AZ that have passed with stock exhaust and cat on. May need some fine tuning but if the engine is properly tuned it should pass fairly easily unless the try to hook up to the OBD (i don't know much about that).

Also even with a boost controller you can't turn the boost down lower then the spring in the wastegate. Stock SR wastegate spring are ~7 psi.
