ive lost my license so my car has sat literally a ful week. being that has been said, i think my car may have an invisble alarm system? usualy when the alarm is set off it just flashes the high beams. is this an aftermarket alarm? it doesnt ahve a keypad. i bought the car almost 4 weeks ago, and it will be gone tomrrow afternoon. i thought it was my battery being the other battery i did have was nearly dead anyways, so i took advantage of my warrenty on my redtop and we voided it up at advanced auto so i could get a new one. now it wont even crank? the sound system and everything else works though... motor just doesnt turn over. thanks in advanced Zilvian's :D

All 95 SEs came OE equipped with an antitheft system. There's a disarm switch built into both key cylinders, just unlock it. Someone just unplugged the theft warning horn, hence no sound.

lock/unlock trick thing, then you said you put in a new battery? does the starter click, click, click when you try to start. is the battery still strong or could something be draining it? ie radio, anything you installed prior to this problem occuring.

yeah its making that clicking noise. i have a ground wiring kit too, so everythings being grounded out properly. battery is brand new. installed it like 24 hours ago, and only had the car turned on for maybe 20 minutes at the MOST. after poping the clutch, i drove it up to the stop sign and back. like a 16th of a mile if even that.

you need to charge your battery more. On a week battery, 20 min of having the car on can use alot of the battery's energy. Driving a car a 1/16th of a mile doesnt not even get close to charging.

My advise.

1) put a trickle charger on it over night and try starting it.
2) Try Jumpstarting it
3) "clutch pop it" to make it run and driver for 10-15miles. Keeping RPMs up to insure alt. is charging If you do not have your drivers lisence like it somewhat appears from original post, have a friend or family member you trust drive the car with you
4) Test Alternator to insure it is working

Last step, report findings back to us.

or since the battery is new and the starter is making the clicking noise that signifies it's death it's probably just time for it to be rebuilt/replaced

im trying as i type this now to work out a deal for a starter, for my fog lights haha. how do you acually rebuild a starter anyways?

mach5, do i have to have the altenator off the car to get it tested?

most people just replace the starter rather than taking it apart and testing it/replacing it

a remanufactured starter is less than $60 at most auto parts stores...most come with a 6 mo. or 12 mo. warranty

if you want to rebuild it yourself you have to diagnose the problem. ie find out if its the soleniod or brushes, etc.

i didnt want to start a new thread, but i wnated everyones opinion. is it possible to ="pop the clutch" being in reverse and it crank up?
