Doing my dayli waste of time I found this....

If anyone is looking for kouki lights, well, you got your self a pretty good deal here.
I know this might get locked, but deam is this a good deal.

EDIT: No Ebay links.

Yea sorry about the link, just go to egay and type in 98 240sx headlights, you'll see them, they are all over the place now, JDM style :keke: they even have japanese writing, on their stores,,, they must be jdm.

I love it. "DOT/SAE compliant stamped". Sure, that makes all the difference, a stamp that someone made at Office Depot for $4.99. The don't list the color on the HID, but I'm willing to bet it's above 8000k. Completely useless.

i would wait for mike from clear corners to chime in, but whatever he say's i'd go with, he's the man to goto with any lighting questions that you might have. the problem i'd see with those is they are more than likely not glass

yea, lol.

These things look rad, but their optics and shit can't be that good. They are made to look cool, not necessarily light well, thats it.

fuck non-projector headlights with HIDs...glare is so damn annoying. I have HIDs in my stock kouki headlights and it's decent. cutoff line isn't perfect but it doesn't glare like all those kids with hondas/scion tcs out there have....SO annoying. fuck.

I would imagine after all these years, that you guys would already know my response and be able to say it.

Lets focus on the sales pitch:
1) It is a shitty ebay store.
2) The store advertises altekka-style lights, blue-coated bulbs
3) Its located here in socal, city of industry! What a surprise...
4) Original headlamps are GLASS
5) Original headlamps use PROJECTORS
6) Original headlamps are made to OEM standards and have been tested by the manufacturer and are in compliance with DOT requirements.

Isnt the above obvious to you guys? Why are you guys even wasting my time and/or zilvia's bandwidth posting shit products like this. You guys should know better... fuck, stop wasting time on ebay.

:bowrofl: ^ classic.

"5) Original headlamps use PROJECTORS"
tell that one to actual Japanese company who came up with the original non projector headlamps
(dont remember the name but there was a thread about it), which I'm not a fan of them at all, I was just trying to point out that you can now get cheap kouki lights, and they are readily available.:bigok:

I've read that stock kouki projectors with a drop-in kit produce a lot of glare. I had a 6000k kit with stock projectors in my car and there were enormous hot spots.

Some guy with H1 4200 drop-in kit.

hey do you have any pics of yours (preferrably the cut-off against a garage or wall)? If you can get some that would be awesome, and let me know what kit you got and temp too! thx! I really don't want to retro-fit anything and i've been 50/50 for just using a kit.

So the ebay "vertex" style ones are glass just like the real vertex's?
And what kinda mounts/cutoffs are you gonna make?
Cause, I dont like getting blinded, so Im not gonna do it to anyone else. :/

Me either...I don't have any pics of my cutoff line, it's about the same as the one up there I guess...doesn't produce a lot of glare though, I've never had anyone complain about it except when I first put them in and had them aimed too high, oops.

I bought mine because smashed my old original lights,
they match and line up perfectly , just test fitted them today, not done with the body work so ill post pics installed later!
havent seen them on either, so not sure how they would look!
i dont care really as long as i can see the road ahead!:)

the way i see it, by adding those lights you're depreciating the value of your car

ive always seen the 97-98 setup as a more expensive car. this is like a poor-mans alternative to temporarily looking new, until those headlamps start to turn yellow and scratch like most cheaper plastics do.

funny thing is you actually have a CHOICE to go with quality lights that are currently available from nissan. bad choices like this just sadden me, but hey... not my money.

Did the Kouki ever come with an HID projector anywhere in the world?

prove it.

as far as i know, xenon was NOT available for the s14.... and i highly disagree.

97-98, xenon was RARE and on few cars. the mercedes SL started implementing that as an OPTION from 98-01, and thats on an SL... not a shitty nissan. :-)

so prove this shit, otherwise you're spreading misinformation......... like chun li being able to throw her bracelets! hah

Sorry, no proof. But I do recall Drew from Raretrick (i think?) saying that it was a super rare option that's hard to import.

And yes, i made him clarify that he was talking about an s14, not s15.

So if someone else wants to confirm or deny, that'd be great.

Yes, not fun selling SHITTY REBASED HID KITS (as opposed to factory HID headlamps).

HID kits are obviously coming in from overseas, and while I have never heard of customs prohibiting the import of these items - I do know for a fact that NHTSA heavily fines companies that sell such kits. Best of luck to them, we've never sold that shit back in the day (before they were banned) and continue not to sell flawed or poor performing products.

Like I said, xenon was never an option for the S14 - only the S15. Remember, to sell overseas in Europe... they require headlamp washers and leveling.
