View Full Version : Raceonusa hood = TCSportline hood?

OK, so Dousan had the TCSportline hood that was basically a Koguchi Power / URAS vent on OEM type hood, and the fitment sucked balls.
I was wondering if the Raceonusa HiFlex hood that can be found here is the same hood or not? (http://www.raceonusa.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=5652)
Search didn't yield much, just a bunch of people saying "don't buy it, it sucks," but it seems as though nobody had first hand experience with it, or had friends buy it and have first hand experience through their friends.
So, what's the deal with this HiFlex hood?

i mean no matter how much you pay for an aftermarket hood, it is not going to fit as perfect as oem pieces, i don't personally have first hand experence but i'd just keep that in mind, and if the price is right, i'd say go with it, whats there to lose, you can adjust how it fits, as long as your happy with it

It's still over $500.
I mean, for that much money plus a few more bucks I can get the D-Max hood in FRP, but only until Friday.
This Raceonusa hood is kinda like a Plan B type deal, where if I can't get the D-Max hood (which is looking quite grim right now, since I just dropped some major cash on some dubs) then I can fall back on this hood.
However, there's still not much of a feedback about the fitment of this hood.
These are the only things I care about:
1) Will the vents hit the front of the valve cover like on Dousan's TCSportline hood?
2) Will I have to space the back of the hood up like on Dousan's hood?
3) Will it at least semi line up like the OEM hood or will it be super shitty offset to 1 side or have huge gaps?
Other than that, if all those come back with a good answer, then I might just get it.

i'd just say try to get that money to get the d-max hood if you can.

dmax is ok if u get the CF it seems
the frp is hit and miss
and from most ive talked w/ and read, people stateside adn friends in japan
DMAX quality fitment is a pos
BN sports is the jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam
westco nissan justin can order that puppy up for you
yeah it costs more
but fits much better.
btw, i wouldnt trust that pic
if it REALLY is what that pic is, its BN SPORTS copy
i wouldnt do it unless you get a REAL PICTURE of their hood, not on a car that has a legitimate hood from a company!

haha, no I didn't go by that picture, which is why I'm asking this question at all.
Looks like I'm gonna have a whole lot of saving to do, cause I want the BN type 3 kit (don't even say I'm biting your style Dousan, I was gonna get a knock off awhile back but didn't have the cash for it! hahaha). Too bad raceonusa fucked up and put the kouki 180 side vent things on their BN copy, now it looks like ass, or else I would have bought that.
Grrrr.... need to find BN Type 3 copy somewhere...

If you're worried about fitment, why not just get a vent on the OEM hood? Jspec has on super cheap
SoSideways

Yeah I know shipping will be a bitch on any type of aero part, especially the hood, cause it has to be a giant box lol
Dousan_PG

because the hood vent type cracks w/ bondo over time
unless u like ghetto look w/ the rivited on setup
which looks cheap and crappy as hell.

Still kind of not the answers I was looking for, although I did get more info out of this thread then from the search.
As no one has first hand experience with this exact hood being sold before, it's hard to tell how well made or how crappy this hood is.
I purchased my hood from Race on... The item was at my doorstep in like 4 days... so...
But how was the quality? The fitment? And which hood was it?

i got a pair of fenders one time from raceonusa and they where horrible. so horrible that they didn't get used, couldn't even be saved by a body guy. they where made from that FRP stuff.

FRP = fiberglass reinforced plastic.
It has nothing to do with fitment.
Fitment has to do with getting a part to make a mold of, and how well made the mold was. Then the ability of the fabricator to make something with the mold and make the item 100% to spec of the mold. Any slip out and there's a fitment problem.
I dunno though, their fenders could suck, but their hoods could still be OK. Kinda like what someone said earlier about the D-Max stuff.

I have gotten sides skirts from them they fit ok. My front bumper was from vis and that fit like crap. I have had friends with origin kits that say fitment was crap and then friends that say it fit perfectly. I think every piece has its own fitment issues just the better companies spend more time making sure the issues are less often.

At nationals I saw a guy with the race on hood, it was the same shit as the tcsportline hood which I had for that one week.
Same shit, just higher price that's all.
Believe that.,,,,,

I beleive raceon is just like hundreds of other quantity over qualitty kits and gets their stuff same places as most of knockoff places. I personaly have never seen a hood or body kit fit worth a dam from them. I have used the VIS hoods and trunks and front bumper also. Hood fits alright, trunk fit umm not so great but ok, front bumper, horrible(good thing I pklanned on chopping it all up anyways!)
So they say you get what you pay for....
Seibon I have heard good things about, never heard to much bad.
What about chargespeed, heard mixed stories, mainly for the better.
BN everyone is praising!
What abuot this Signal? Not to many debates Ive heard of these?
I know theres so many companies out there. Maybe we should have a poll on who produces the best fit!
Just wandering also on what are good aftermarket fitting companies, or does evebryone truly believe its hit and miss with any company?

Listen to Aaaaaron.
Scott, here at tougefactory ordered the raceonusa hood for his his s13. Which is made by TC. Main thing we noticed was that it was flat, didn't curve like it should, but it was very thin so it kinda bent into shape after it was installed. Hinges didn't line up at all, front and rear, had to make custom. The main vent does not clear the motor, you have to cut and trim half of the vents. You can make it fit ok with alot of work, but it will never fit good.
Its not BN copy, its oem hood with uras vent.

So that Race On hood is basically a copy of the OEM hood w/ URAS vent?
Wow.... talk about a bad choice to knock off lol
Guess it's time to save up for the $1k for the BN hood then. Friggin' big pimpin' spending G's.
Hey Kevin took that pic, cool hahaha
