Halfway home from the drift track Sunday night I pulled over to pee. When I got back on the freeway there was a wierd sound. So I took it to the shop monday to have my new exhaust put on. When it was on the rack, me and the dude had a look. The Rubber around my Carrier Bearing was beat to a pulp and the shaft could be pushed around every which way it wanted.
The dude said my bearing was shot.
So I went the JY and pulled off a Auto tranny shaft with the bearing attached. ( I didnt realize they are seperate sizes). When I got the part to the shop today, they had mine completely disasembled and were able to get the JY one onto my manual shaft.
I picked up my car today and it still made the noise for a little while and now its seemed to have died down. My clutch throw out is also going, so all the noises are a bit confusing.
My question is,
Which way are you supposed to set the Carrier Bearing?? The bearing isnt centered in that bushing. So do you put it on the high end, or set it to have the axle go through the low end???
could the bearing not have been perfecly seated, and fixed itself up?? Im really worried to drive the car.
I wish I had time to read through this stuff before. I would have just bought a steel one piece :(
