I want to remove this pinstripe:

It's painted on and shows wear in some places I'd like to do it without ruining the paint. From my research, I've heard easy-off oven cleaner, claybar, fine grit sand paper, and even razor blades.

Whats the best way?

I'd sand and buff.

If it's ontop of the clearcoat just use some paint thinner or wetsand and buff it.

yea wet sand with say 1500-2000 grit. when you wet sand, dont push down on the sandpaper, let it do the work for you, only apply enough pressure to hold it on the car. then buff to a nice shine. razor blades will just damage it, and paint thinner will eat away at the clear as well.

I dont know, its kinda cute... lol. WEll, if its painted on, try some rubbing compound to get rid of it without too much harm to the paint, then some polishing compound to clean it up.

it's painted not a vinyl sticker

I guess I'll give a try at the wet sanding unless there is something better

i second the wet sand option. just make sure you do it very gradually and lightly, you don't want to go right through the paint underneath the stripe...

i fucking HATE pin striping. The designers of the vehicle never intended for it to be there and all it does is convolute the design.
It's just a way for dealerships to tack on an extra 150 bucks.

if its on top of the paint and its a sticker use an eraser wheel

if its on top of paint and its painted on, you will need to wetsand and buff it

if its underneath clearcoat..your fucked

Don't wet sand! Is that the OEM paint? If it is don't wetsand. I read about an autobody expert saying that on most cars, most JDM cars if you sand down even the slightest bit on the clear coat, your paint will begin to fade because not enough protection or something... I also saw it on a Maguairs video teaching people how to wet sand and polish... My dad said its best to use a rubbing compound of high something... Then buff. The reason it fades is because they don't put extra clear coat to fix flaws but, just enough to wet sand and give it a good looking paint... Also don't try taking off orange peel on OEM paint...

Don't don't wet sand you won't see it faded right away if anything it would look better but, over time it will turn a grayish color... Just warning you...

like everyone says try wet sanding it and hope it comes off. If not lil bit of goof off and paint thinner never hurt anyone.

dude stop lol

hes not gonna be grinding the shit down with 800 grit for 6 hours and a 3 stage buff job

hit it with some 2000 wet/dry

buff lightly with a wool pad and some 3m perfect it
