Starting problems, (slow crank)

Hey My 240 cranks slow when starting. The alternator tested fine, so i threw in a new battery and it still does it. it only takes like 5 cranks to start but it just cranks slow? any suggestions? thanx

Replace the starter. The solenoid is worn, taking more time to initiate contact to the motor.

at least it gave you that much of a warning. My starter went out a month ago, but before it went out, it started and worked fine. Then BAM it doesnt work. It failed every test autozone put it to on the machine... But its less than 100 bucks, not too bad. And it takes a whole half hour to remove, its not bad.

take a hammer to it...should get you through a few days until you get another starter

okay dont just hall off and replace the starter or take a hammer to it (sliddinsil80 tard) that may not be ur problem or solution to ur problem i would first suggest testing the voltage dope in your battery cable to ur starter that could cause it to crank slow and if that doesnt work remove it cause, then it is probably the starter but without hearing it i dont know for sure, ask urself a question does the starter make any noise when you r cranking.

hah my car is the exact opposite, itll start on the first crank and it starts really fucking hard and abrupt

check the voltage before you take a hammer to the side of your starter. could be a worn out cable, etc.

but if the voltage is fine...then the hammer trick will work for a few times.

older ford fuel pumps can get away with this trick, they operate based off hitting a series of points, and when the pump starts to go..they skip a point every now and then. cool trick is to kick the fuel tank while turning the engine over....can be a big life saver when the car is stuck on the road.

Hammers own starters......Incase it goes out before you replace it, give it some tough love with a hammer they some times come alive. Still need to be replaced though:keke:

Same happened to a buddy of mine. He spazzed out for about half an hour before realizing his starter took a dump on him.
