View Full Version : Stalling! On the Verge!!!
Hey guys i just installed my intercooler and hks bov yesterday!:bigok: Well when im driving everything seems fine, but when i hit the red light, and come to a stop my car feels like its just gonna stall and die! I'm almost 100% sure i don't have a boost leak! What can be the cause of this?! Thanks guys!

if it wasnt doing it before then i would recheck everything you have done and make sure its on tight and dosnt have a leak. also maybe your intercooler has a leak in it and you wont be able to tell unless you preasure check it.
if it all checks out ok then check to see if your battery is is secure and the termanals are not loose. sounds wierd but check it.
Alright, i'll check it today! Well now that i think about it, i did relocated the battery to the back, terminals could be coming loose! Thanks!

If the car is already running, there is no need for the battery. Check your alternator.
I'll check it, hope its not that! It started to do it yesterday after i put on my kit. I appreciate the input guys! I'll check everywhere for leaks and check my alternator!

yea its your bov.. probably because the spring on those arent very tight.. so what happens is basically is having a small boost leak.
im not sure if the hks ssq's spring can be tightened.. but nothing to worry about.. its normal

What's your vacuum source for the BOV? Make sure it's off the brake booster line, it'll minimize the chances of the BOV staying open under idle.
Also, just check all your hoses, lines, couplers.

If the car is already running, there is no need for the battery. Check your alternator.
your battery is needed to complete the circuit (negative terminal)
My vaccum source for my bov is the stock bov line. Right under the throttle body, if that makes sense! took the stock bov off and ran the hks bov line to the same one that the stock one was using!

Same thing happens to me. The problem is your car is running rich as hell with out the recerculating BOV. It helps if you turn the boost down (10psi max works for me) and dont put the clutch in at high rpm. Slow down to lights with the car in gear till about 1k and then put the clutch in. Get a fuel computer and get the air/fuel right.Hope it helps.
This is kind of a silly question, but is this BAD for my car? What does it effect? I do'nt know how to turn downt he boost, im not using the stock boost sensor so i guess my car shouldnt have more than 10psi?

hmm, the vac line at the bottom of the TB was routed to the charcoal canister from the factory.
there is a large vac port on the top part of the throttle body which shoudl go diretly to your BOV.
but this is normal since you have an atmospheric setup. stock setup recirculates blown off charge air into the atmosphere.
your MAF is senses the amount of air coming into your intake and that air is metered to make as pecific A/F mixture. if you keep runing this setup, you will probably be running rich.
HKS makes a recirculation fitting for your bov. i suggest purchasing this and just re-circulating back into your intake.
or if you want to keep your showoff valve setup you can deal with the stalling/tighten your spring

Its not bad. The worst thing is your wasting gas and your spark plug life could be shortened. Just check all of your vaccum lines, FMIC pipe conections, and make sure your BOV is tight. Other then that recerc it or deal with it until you get a fuel computer.
