240sx for drag racing

A few weeks ago someone said that 240's are not good for drag racing because of the independent wheel suspension.  how true is this?  I tryed to search the forum but couldn't find anything.  
I'm curious about it because I like drag racing.  Either way there is no question the 240sx is fun to drive and handles great.

yea, thats true. but dont let that bother you, i personally LOVE to drag race, im not into those AutoX or Drifting like other ppl on the board. im probably one of the many few that love to drag at a real track, not juss for time slips but also in competition

The rear suspension is designed to prevent squat under acceleration, so it's not the best.  The best rear end design for drag racing in a full bodied car is still a solid axle, four-link.

It's still better than any FWD car, though.

Remember that many of those fast Supras, 300ZX's, RX7s, etc. are all using a similar rear suspension to ours.  Some well though out tuning can lessen the wheelhop (hint: check the rear subframe bushings), a good LSD and good tires and the car will hook just fine.

same here im not really into drifting or autocross but i sure love to drag race....and trying to fuck aruond in the rain in a parking lot is fun too <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> trying to drift without wasteing your tires <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> &nbsp;but i still believe that 240z is a good car for drag reguardless of what people say

Hehe, the 240 is a handling car more than a drag car. Still, with a bit of work it could drag OK. I beleive the fastest was just under 11 seconds. Not bad for "that worthless truck engine" &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

(don't flame me for the truck engine thing, I'm just makin' a point. The KA kicks ass :-) )

if you only want to drag race, why buy a 240? &nbsp;why not get a dsm or mustang/camaro? &nbsp;they are much better suited for drag, and will get you lower times for less money. &nbsp;the 240 is know for its handling, not its overwhelming power. &nbsp;IMO 240s are more at home on the track than on the strip.

Blah. ever heard about fast daily drivers? mustang/camaros are great for drag but i'd kill myself if i had to go to school in it every day.

i see it this way..either way..if u wanna drag, drift, whatever...its RWD...its great! &nbsp;better launch than those FWDs, and even if its not suitable for drag, you can still beat a lotta thos hondas w/o too much modification...

I wish i could beat ALL hondas. &nbsp;Last week an Integra gs r beat me, and it was stock. &nbsp;I didn't want to race because I was with two of my friends. &nbsp;Anyway, we raced. &nbsp;I starting winning, shifted to 2nd and I'm still winning, shifted to 3rd and then he start passing me. &nbsp;I need a turbo to beat those VTECH. &nbsp;I know a lot of you condem street racing, so no need for your opinion.

who is the "We" in the we don't condone street racing? &nbsp;the members that run off every new person than can for no real reason but that they are new? &nbsp;If you don't like street racing im happy but shut your mouth i don't want to hear it.
