I made a thread while back concerning the way my automatic shifts. Well after all types of advice, I said I will try a machine transmission flush as my last attempt, and then post back. Well it didn't do squat. Also I've noticed a couple of things.
The car seems to do okay if you drive normal, basically no more than half throttle. Then say if you floor it and continue to drive wot, it all goes out the door, and tachs extremely high. So high in fact tonight, I tach'd around 7k and bounced of the revlimiter...literally. I had a vid on my cell phone but didn't get it all on there. I actually didn't let off to see what it would do...it stayed around 6k for about 3 to 4 secs, then moved to 7 and the needle bounced back and shifted with a jerk.
Also all gears still seem to be there because I can still manually downshift the car it responds accordingly. Also when driving normal, you can feel each gear change. I think I counted 3 shifts at least maybe 4.
Last but not least I checked to see if I can stall the car with one foot on the gas and one on the brake. It still builds up like before. I only did it for like a second as I know this builds up heat.
So with this new info, anybody got any ideas. Something is suggesting to me its electrical whether ecu or some sorta sensor.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!

Also on a second note is the automatic transmission for 240's called RE4R01A?
If so transgo makes a valve body shift kit for it, and if I'm looking at having rebuild or replace the transmission..for 50 to 60 bucks might as well throw that in too?
Any reasons not to? Also before anyone says do 5spd swap, just know I wanna keep this car auto for a , and would rather buy a 2nd car thats 5spd. So thats why I'm not giving in

Don't rebuild...find a used one for cheap/free. They last a LONG time, typically.
I've actually thrown away 2...you can;t even give them away.
Post a WTB with your location, maybe you'll get a freebie.

Yeah I went to a SR swap shop around here in SoCal...I swear I counted 10 auto tranny's just laying there. I'm sure you can find one easily. Depends on where you are located though.

Hmm well with the shift kit I don't think it requires complete rebuild. The shop that did the flush said my next step would be a transmission shop. So if thats the case, I'll ask them how much it would be to install a new transmission and maybe install the shift kit. Might pick up transmission from someone on here or something.

ya sounds like your trannys done for. you should be able to find an auto tranny pretty quick since most people to the 5spd swap. ask someone you know that did the swap or talk to shops that do the sr20 swaps they should have some trannys laying around collecting dust somewhere. GL

Can do two things rebuild it witch isnt really worth it sence its automatic. I would just take it as a push to get a 5 speed swap and do it. If you planed on doing a 5 speed swap buying another auto tranny or fixing that one would be stupid. Auto trannys break its somthing they do because they are weak all it takes is one fuck up and auto tranny starts screwing up. You will be replacing auto trannys alot if you drift that car or drive crazy they cant handle it not made to.
Just some info you should prolly know it would be cheaper and get more performance out of your car if you went standard.

Torque converter is slipping, a new one won't run you too much. I'd try that before tearing into the transmission case, or buy a known good condition unit and still replace the converter while it's out.

Cool I actually got video of the tach while driving the car. I've tried uploading a vid of my car for a different situation I have, and if that works, I'll upload the one concerning the transmission.
Hey didn't someone make an "performance" converter if you will for the 240? I think they painted the outside of them blue in color.
-----hey I found a member on here by the name of rezlo I think who had upgraded converters..but his site is down for maintenance and he's all the way in south africa I think?
Anyone closer lol?

Just a thought before I go to a transmission shop, but any sensors that could be the problem? Whats that sensor on the strut tower on s14's thats suppose to control the line pressure or something? Is it worth replacing to see if it fixes things?
