Just out of curiousity what is the average lead time for most of the japanese companys to make a carbon fiber hood? I know this might be a noob question, but I can't stand not knowing how long this may possibly take for it to come.

lots of factors to consider.
- popular or non popular model for the hood
- where they are located
- if overseas they might wait till enough orders come through before processing it as a batch
- etc

It is Yashio Factory located in japan. I do not know how they manage orders but I think they might be made to order even.

Have you talked to a Yashio Factory dealer?

I talked to super autobacs and they said 6-8 weeks + lead time. I'd just want to know what the lead time is so I know how long I should be anticipating.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but...

Did you ask them what the lead time would be? You stand a better chance of getting an answer out of them, since they deal with Yashio Factory.

Just my thought process.

Yeah I tried, it's just the people in the US don't know much of anything unless they normally deal with that company. And Yashio Factory isn't a company many people in the US even know about. They have ordered parts from them before they told me, but it was a while ago.

I was just wondering if anyone on the forums has had any experience with a company of Yashio Factory's status. I just have a feeling they wouldn't keep a product like that instock.

in this case i'd figure lead time meaning for the factory to get the materials to make ur hood...... might take a while....

and if they are anything like Masa... they may wait a while to create a batch from several orders before they go place them into production (save's them some yen)

I wanted the hood when I saw it because there is nothing quite like it. Sure there are others with similar vents but none with the turbo vent as well and the way the vents are done it's smooth compared to that of a c-west style where it's very angular. I also want the hood to be a little different, I have yet to see anyone else with the same hood I ordered and why does it matter to you? It's my money and my car.

I just wanted to know the average lead time of such companies so I know what to expect.

So I just feel like updating this thread. Apparently lead time for Yashio Factory to make a hood is 30 days. My hood came but was damaged durring shipping so I have to wait some more

Here's some pics of it if anyone's interested.

took me 2 months to get my hood
but i just missed the previous ship date when i placed my order

it will depend on the company
whether its something in stock or that has to be made to order
how often they ship

Meh, if I was spending that much on a hood I'd want it without any imperfections.

Because in the second pic its pretty noticeable imo.

But its whatever.

Yeah, what is the deal with the damaged hood?
do you have to return it?
keep it?
destroy it?

Yashio Factory makes these hoods once the order is placed and doesn't keep any instock so I have to wait a while no matter what.

:werd: I was tempted to take it for a reduced price, but I'd rather spend a little more and have it perfect.

I could've kept it or they send it back and get another one. So I opted for them to get me another one. It'll be here in 2 months :-/
