i just installed this today.. and well i spoke to someone here and they told me that the 2 metal prongs on the bottom of the hub work for the s14 (and are necessary).. when I installed it, the prongs pretty much didn't touch anything and prevented my holes for the turn signal cancel to touch the hub.. was i suppose to remove the metal prongs? if so how do i take them off? should i just dremmel it off? here is a pic of the prongs.. (i found the pic on the for sale section).. you can see it on the bottom of the hub (gold color).. and you can clearly see on the box that the hub is made for both the s13 and 14.. help guys..

you can slightly see it in this image below as well at the very left bottom (sorry it's not clear, i was taking a pic of my dented hub for some one)..

The hubs are meant to fit both the s13 and s14. Those prongs are meant for the s13. If you use them for your s14 then you will need to break the 2 prongs off.

thanks for the quick response.. they are set in there pretty good.. do they screw off? breaking them off would probably dammage the hub.. the only other option would be to cut..

is it possible to still have the srs cancellation, turn signal, and horn with a nrg short hub? i have a deep corn steering wheel and i wanted the location of the wheel to be close to stock.i was going to lean towards that but then i just had a second thought.

also, if i dont go that route, i was planning on going hkb boss or momo and just do my own srs cancellation. but has anyone used the slim nrg quick release? if so, what did you think of it?

You can't have anything but turn signal cancel I think. Go with a works bell hub if you want that.

- works bell short hub for s14 (will it work with nrg qr?)

- nrg short hub (does it have the horn/turn signal/srs cancellation?)

- nrg slim qr (does anyone have this? if so, how is it?)

Not sure if the nrg quick release works with the works bell short hub. I believe I have heard others say it does work but don't quote me on it.

On my s13, the nrg worked well. The turn cancellations worked as well as the horn. I am not sure about the airbag since I didn't have one. All you really need is a resistor to take care of the srs light. They are really cheap at radio shack. I'm just not sure which resistor you would need.

The last time I was messing with the srg slim qr, they had a little play in them. I told them about it but I am not sure if they fixed it. I would just stick with their regular gen 2.5 quick release.

thanks man. but just to clarify, you have the nrg short hub on your s13, correct?

yeah.. i just asked nrg personally since i didnt get a response about cutting the prongs off.. well, they said that i can cut it or try to pry them off.(weird they didnt really know how to remove them). but yes, you will need to remove them to install a nrg short hub onto a s14.. so I fixed mine..

to clarify the turnsignal cancel does work and so does the horn.. the air bag light can be fixed by making a resistor or buying one from mynismo.com.. i just bought one becuase i dont know jack about making one.. i was going to get the works bell boss hub.. but it sits way to close to me.. so the nrg short hub and quick release sits almost in stock position..

^^ thanks. i did some more research too. and thats basically what i got. but works bell does offer a short hub as well. a lil more pricey than nrg but well worth it.

thanks for the clarification too.

For the S14's you need to have the SRS wheel to have a horn and airbag light off unless you want to do custom wiring. The SRS wheel has the connecter for the horn and airbag there and you put a resistor where the airbag goes (works bell comes with it) and the horn is also on the srs wheel and you just plug that in. Without the SRS wheel it would take a lot of custom work to get it done. I'm not 100% sure about the turn signal cancel because I thought that's what the two prongs were for, but I could be wrong.

The NRG quick release will work fine, basically all quick releases will work. I use a FET which is the original one that NRG copied to make the slim one. I love it.

If you get the works bell hub make sure you get the short hub so it sits right. I have the works bell hub and 1" thick quick release (FET) and it sits at stock distance.

what are the prongs for?

BillyTheChamp

apparently the prongs are for s13s.. actually the turn signal cancel works because of the 3 holes on the bottom of the hub.. i didnt use the works bell hub because i felt that the yellow bracket with the plug on it gets in the way and takes up unnecessary space.. the so called "custom wiring isn't hard at all.. you just need to take the wires from the plug near the igntion and re-splice them into the airbag harness.. literally wiring 2 wires together.. well 3 (one for the horn).. you can also re add cruse if you wish.. but mine was removed anyway..

nrg quick release will work on a works bell short hub, as that is my current set up along with a deep corn in my s14

i finally did the install on my s14. just to bump this thread, i found the answer the OP original question.

those prongs do just pop off. just pull them out.. takes lil effort.

I heard some people said that if I have a S14 I need work bell hub or something to deal with the SRS, how is that work? does WB has a wire to connect with OE SRS to bypass it or something?

Secondly, can WB hub work with FET QR? like like a QR that's slim so can I put the wheel in my bag w/o too much hassle.

Yes and yes.

so where is the best place /cheap to buy FET or steering wheel/QR, most place don't sell FET anymore

also, is WB and HKB the only place that make hub to work with SRS, is there anyone else? momo/sparco/others?

c2auto.com.

you can make your own plug to work with srs to trick the ecu to think there's an airbag.. theres a diy on it. look it up.

so there is a SRS or non-SRS hub, but is there such thing for QR too? or all QR the same in that regard?

if you have a s14 and want to bypass the srs you will need the works bell splash short hub or standard hub. It comes with the resistor that will trick the srs.

The NRG quick release or any other quick release has nothing to do with the srs. And yes it will fit on a works bell hub standard or short. (i kno cuz i have that combo w/ a nardi wheel)

You do not have to buy the works bell to override the light. You can go to any radioshak and buy a resistor. They cost around $1 for 4. The only homework you would need to do is find out the resistance needed.

i researched and found that the resistant is 2ohm. However, another member on here told me that WB hub has a space for me to tuck the wire and the SRS unit in while other hub don't have this space and I would have to pull all those thing out. It not hard but tedious and more work. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
