They're the shit. Buy a pair. Done.

I bought them because they're white.

I never really thought about anything you just asked me. Bindings are just bindings to me. Anyway, to get all technical with them (2007 MFM Pro). Let's see here.
Pros are 1. They're white. 2. On the ankle strap, there's a slit on top of the strap where the ratcheted length of the ladder strap goes into. It's a really clean look and you don't have to worry about snapping your ladder strap if you fall (which never happens). 3. Metal ratchets. 4. The heel cups are thin metal. So, if you're doing a bs 50 or press on a close quarters rail, fence, ledge, etc. you'll have a smoother surface and few more millimeters of board to balance on (which probably doesn't matter). 5. They don't have locking highbacks. I hate my locking highbacks on my Customs because when I'm hiking a rail, I can't hold on to the heel cup and drag my board in the snow. I ended up busting the locking mechanism on my front highbacks off for this reason. Plus, if you ride a low-rider chair, your shit's fucked. 6. Leather ankle straps and toe caps. Ballinnn'! Now for the cons. Sometimes you'll get snow jammed up in your toe caps. Even if they're tight. With the toe caps, you have a few extra millimeters added on to your toes so if you're doing a fs 50 or press on a close quarters...
Who cares about weight?
Comfort? They Tech's are snug. I have gel ankle straps on my Customs. They don't do shit and I can't feel them through my boots...
Response. The highbacks aren't super tall on like some of the Burton bindings, but I like my Tech's. They do work, son.

If you really care about weight, you're a bitch. I'm just kidding. Just invest your money in a pair of 32 boots.

Now, after my short essay on the MFM Pro's, if you don't get them, I'll be pissed. I'm just kidding, again. Really though, you won't be disappointed. I bought mine for $150 off some online site. Just look around.

I just saw you have Freestyle's. They suck don't they? I had a pair my first year. I hated them. I rode a Burton Punch 134. I was an ant. Fucking ants...

surprisingly i like the freestyle over the cartels! the freestyle doesn't have a locking hi-back and a set forward lean! I HATE forward lean! they flex a bit more so i get more maneuverability and comfort, but it lacks response. the only downside to the freestyle is they're not very durable! i feel like they're gonna break on me at any moment!

(edit: the cartels i tried were before they stopped making the locking hi-back)

i guess i can buy a few sets of bindings to accommodate the rest of my board collection.. i'll definitely look into the technine!

p.s. - toko wax is bomb! any other suggestions? one ball wax smells good! =)

Yeah, to this day, I still don't really know what forward lean does, nor do I really care. I've never used it. Everything that you mentioned about the Freestyle's is so true. They flexed so much, I hated them. I was only doing straight airs and 180's back then, but you couldn't ride away from back seat landings EVER! It lacked a ton of response like you said too. The one positive review I can give the Freestyle's is...they're super light! 99% plastic and size medium back then.

I like the flow bindings, but there is a lot of flex when hitting bigger jumps. Positive feature is the quickness of getting in and out of them for any street rails or hiking in the park.

I come to find out that Burton gear is really reliable, but DO NOT get Burton Cartel bindings. They snap boards with there poor design. My friend snapped the nose of two boards within a month.

Thats probably not the bindings fault. What is the poor design that could have possibly caused him to snap a board? I have heard nothing but fantastic things about the Burton Cartels. One of the only Burton bindings i would get.

and Matej, i really like Rome gear @ www.romesnowboards.com and also Nitro gear @ www.nitrosnowboards.com

The back corner of the binding was shaped to a point. With the width of his stance, when he would butter around (manual), it would put a lot of pressure from the point to the board, which caused it to snap. We took the board to numerous board shops to see if it was just the structure of the board that was crap and they agreed that it was the binding and that they have had a bunch of kids coming in with broken boards because of the Cartels. Just my input.

Agreed that Rome is a good company!

Man, that doesnt look like thats gonna end good haha..

And +1 on the burton comment.

Burton really doesnt make bad stuff, but to get any of their stuff that is really nice, you have to spend and arm and a leg. A 470 dollar Rome board is WAY nicer of a board than a 500 dollar Burton board. You'd have to get a 600+ dollar burton board to compare to a 500 dollar Rome, Gnu, Nitro board etc.

Burton does make good stuff, its just really expensive. And besides, i hate being a big corporate sellout lol

If at all possible, wait around for companies to have demo days. Shops may have demo boards as well. The shop I'm sponsored by does, but I'm not sure if anyone can take them out. You can check the forums of SNOWBOARD (http://www.snowboard-mag.com/). I only ride Burton boards, but I'm definitely not biased. It really all depends on how much money you want to spend on your board and what kind of riding you do.

I remember the first day I went boarding and had the nerve and stupidity to try a jump by the end of the day. The last thing I remember seeing was that the sky looked crystal blue and I could no long see the ground. My body was completely parallel with the ground and the snowboard was somehow above my head and I had a brief moment to think about how much it was going to hurt when I landed. Still, after that, I couldn't help but try it again and finally nailed it after a few more crashes. I LOVE Boarding!! Haven't been in about 2 years though since I moved back from Cali. Gotta love it out there. It was the one place that I could go to the beach and boogie board and then go snow boarding in the same day. Here's my lil' contribution... and yes, Black people board too! (although I have only run into 1 or 2 other tokens while there) Hahahaha:bigok:

I'm changing my riding drastically after what happened to me today. I'm going to Travis Parker my way around the mountain from now on, just dicking around and enjoying myself. No more bangers.
3.5 hours ago...30' wooden bridge rail. 10'+ fall on the other side of the rail to ground caused a worked wrist, busted jaw/lip, and 2 front lower teeth knocked back a little bit. I pulled my teeth back into place and am now wearing my retainer, but if my teeth die, I'll have to get root canals. I realized after falling that I can enjoy snowboarding without getting worked time after time for one banger. So my video parts from this year forward will consist of lower caliber Travis Parker riding.
I will be selling all my park gear and buying a freeriding board. If anyone is interested in anything from my first page post, PM me. The Se7en and MFM Pro bindings are brand new (In case people are wondering about my previous post about the bindings, I rode my friend's setup for a day with the same bindings).
My life with driving capabilities is worth more than broken bones, paralysis, or even death. I can't risk not being able to drive my car. ;)

I don't know how I missed this thread! Sorry to hear about you faceplanting from like 3 stories Tops*, that's never fun. Maybe you'll get back into the *showstopper* stuff, maybe you wont - the important thing is gettin up the mountain and havin a good time :)

I noticed a few of you guys are in sweet areas for boarding... but I'll still take socal :) Where the snow is fake, and so are the tittays on the snowbunnies lol.

I ride the same GNU 157 Carbon High Beam I've had for a while (got it as a freebie from Billys Boardshop in Montrose when I used to ride more) as my freestyle board, and used to have a Burton Canyon Wide 163 for Mammoth carvin (sold it a couple years ago). I miss how the wide boards move, and HATE dragging heel (see pics) on my somewhat too narrow GNU.

Here's how the board spends most of its time, hangin out with my Alpinestars track suit =D

Here's the board pulled down - look @ how dusty it is lol

GNU = good stuff, most of the time. It's held up well for 5 seasons or whatever.

Here's my sweet 32 boots on my avg Lamar bindings - the boots are great, and the bindings are decent. After reading the crap you guys wrote about your shitty bindings, I feel pretty good about these freebies :) The only thing I don't like is the overhang - you can't really see it in the pics, but my boot's only like a half inch above the board, and sticks over by at least a half-inch... any sketchy landings or serious carving, and my boots drag a tiny bit - just enough to make me pucker up the ol' anus.
http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/4362/img00072fk3.jpg

Last but not least, the vehicle that makes sure I get to and from the mountain in one piece!

As far as the other stuff, I got some nice 686 pants from last year, and a couple Burton jackets (one really cool bomber jacket for warmer days, and an urban camo one that's too big to look cool) and one of the nicer NFA jackets - then a couple pairs of Dragon goggles (remember when Dragon and their emblem was the shit?!?), one black and one amber, and a few pairs of Da Kine gloves for all weather situations. Spring gloves make great driving gloves, too :)

Man, you guys got some really nice gear, lol. I haven't gone boarding in almost 4 years. I'm gonna start going again this season.

My Gear...
Lamar MX25 Bindings
Lamar Impact Board
Vans Fargo Boots
Smith Goggles

Places I've gone...
Mt. High
Snow Summit
Bear Mt.

I need to get myself some new clothes and gloves before I go again, bah. I can't find my goggles either so I have to probably go buy a new one.
I probably need to get a new board and bindings as well, but this stuff will do since I'm pretty much inactive.

How did I miss this thread. Snowboarding rules, but get's expensive when you start going 3 days a week. lol Been boarding since 1987!! Back when most east coast mountains didn't even allow it and the ones that did, only allowed you on certain trails.

I have ridden them all and still think burton makes the best boards.

Equipment: Burton too many to list
Ride: All the big east coast mountains

Todd Richards is my idol. I remember playing him in Cool Boarders 2001 on PS1. He's getting old, but is still having as much fun with the young guns in the park. Plus, he's doing tandem runs with Ken Block...

Update from my previous post: Back doing bangers, bitches! The end.

This season sucks more than ever over here in Michigan. Jumps are always icy, nothing gets set up right, and there are too many ants in the park getting in my way. I'll probably just sell my jump board knowing I'll probably never have another good jump day. Global warming = fail.

'I just got snaked by a Subaru'

Awesome stuff in here guys.

My gear is pretty generic but for how little(sadly) I use it, I can't justify the nice gear.

is this a thread to show off your gear and what you ride (rides) down the slope? I could care less what you got but your actual skill on it. Its like the kids in highschool who come to school in new shoes and and brand new board with no abuse whats so ever and itll be like that for 5 days. Straight hard parkin. anywho

ride board
burton bindings
dc boots
nothing special

clothes
626 pants
a long sleeve thermal and a regular ol shirt. if its to cold then ill throw on a jacket. (626 black colored with the magnetic buttons) or the volcom camo jacket.

Rome is great, but don't tell me burton isn't. They pretty much started the industry and been around longer then you have. Shit, I have been riding longer then you have been on this rock.

It's like driving a nissan gtr and saying "you buy ferrari..... you buy a name.. everyone knows it".

Well, it's pretty hard to talk about skill when there are so many different aspects to snowboarding. Plus, who cares about skill? I'd rather have a fun day out with my crew than learn 10 new tricks.
Style > Skill

Anyway, my most tech trick is back 180-switch nose-cab on a rail (a lot of people can do it on a box, but not a rail set up street). Gooner style. I do rails. Jumps are too icy and small in Michigan.
