Which would you rather have say you bought an aftermarket steering wheel?
Aren't most rally and race cars equipped with suede/felt steering wheels for more comfort and grip?

crap no way? Do you think it'll last 2 years of normal everyday driving ? Is there anyway you can maintain the suede because I don't want to wear gloves everytime I drive :/

no it will not still be ok after two years. humans are greasy sweaty moist creatures if we have our hands on something it eventually wears especially suede

it will be fine to use, it will just eventually not be soft/fuzzy anymore. the sweat/oils on your hands will mat down the suede..

yeah, it'll get matted and shiny pretty quickly...
i hear there are special brushes available that are meant to restore the condition of matted suede... not sure where you'd find one though, or how good they work.

i picked up one of those brushes @ a journey's shoe store before, its decent. also, saturating suade with silicone spray then letting it air dry will help repel alot of the moisture and grime (been daily driving with a suede wheel for over a year now and it does look used but its not ratty by any means)
buy both, lol, suede for racing, and leather for everyday driving.
or have both on the same steering wheel ( Sparco Lap 5 ) there is probably others

I want suede but I would say leather for daily driving. Suede is made for tracks and driving with gloves.

Like the others have said, don't daily suede, it'll get matted and tattered very quickly.
If you race a lot, and even if you use gloves, the oils and stuff from your hands can saturate through your gloves and fuck up the wheel as well.

It will still get matted. I have a sparco flash 5 on my car, and the suede is matted. I'm going to try going to an upolstery(sp?) shop, to see if they can re-wrap it.
If you take regular care of a suede wheel it will be fine for daily driving. But who really wants brush and clean a steering wheel every couple of weeks?
I'm a lazy fuck so leather is good.

If you're on a budget, leatherette. Feels just like leather for about 60% of the price.
If you don't mind high maintenance, suede + gloves are best.
If you like luxury, leather.
I have a Sparco 215 2-spoke suede wheel, but I don't like the maintenance so I'm switching to leather.
I got suede and ive been trying to find someone to put leather on it.

Just go buy gloves.......Makes you feel all cool driving down the road, im not lieing go buy some:squint: . Drive with a suede steering wheel and driving gloves to the store you feel so rice, soy sauce is jumping all over you. Suede FTW go buy gloves and it will stay sexy and the extra for feeling like the shit going to pick up taco bell:rawk:
Wdit: Leather sucks IMO, slips out of my hands at the track with my gloves on. Suede just seems to hold the gloves like glue compared to rubber.

well if you're going to get driving gloves, you might as well pick up a pair of driving goggles to keep the elements out of your eyes.

Suede if you're baller. Looks/feels nicer and is made for use with gloves.
Leather if you want it to last long.

I daily with the sparco mugello (leather and suede). I try to keep my hands on the leather rather than the suede.

If you race year round a suede steering wheel should be on your yearly birthday list if its not you fail:nono:
I've had wood, suede, perforated leather, and smooth leather wheels.
Right now I've got a suede Momo deep dish Rally, and although it grips my gloves great, I wish I still had my smooth leather Nardi.

I gots the pinko wood steering wheel and it hurts the hands to drive long distances, like 6-11 hour drives. Just what I noticed. The feeling is cool though, nice and smooth like a fresh pair of 'enhanced' boobies.

i had a sparco part suede/part leather in my daily.
after a year, the leather part was perfect, and the suede was matted from hands and shrunken from the sun.
after another year, it was exactly the same.

he suede will get gummed up with oils from you skin, sweat..etc..etc.. Not to mention it wears a lot easier. Just don't get upset when it looks like crap in a couple months.

My hands turn to rock with a wood wheel ill never own another one. If your not a drift junky or road race alot suede is over kill and will crap out fast as hell would prolly just be better off with a smooth leather one. I need to try a smooth leather one out it seems like it would do just as good as suede.
Edit: LMAO Yeah ok you know you have gone to far when you put on your driving gloves and start feeling on everything to see what grips better...If they made a steering wheel wrapped in the same shit boxers are made out of they would go so hard.

I dont agree with this advice.
Leatherette is garbage, its vinyl. Plastic anything typically sucks. I dont want to hold plastic when driving.
I've had a MOMO Monte Carlo (OLDDDDDDDDDDDD SCHOOL) wheel for maybe, 10 years? The thing still rocks. Shit is full leather, unlike most of the newer, inexpensive wheels that are leatherette.
I have no interest in suede, my hands get dirty and the last thing I want is a dirty wheel.
After years of driving, I prefer:
- leather wheel
- alcantara seats (sude-like, ie: r32, r33 seats) leather? never again. too hot or too cold, and too damn slippery.
- alum shift knobs (just NOT round, never again)

Just out of curiosity are there any places that will so called re-leather a nardi? I had a body shop do some work on my car and they messed up the wheel badly.

Are you holding your wheel like you have a death grip or what?
I have zero issues when I use my wood wheel on occasion.
