ok i was over at enjuku racing and saw that they had two pulleys you could buy for my car , 90 240sx , they had the ASP pulley and the Unorthodox Racing pulley , the unorthodox one is cheaper , so i wanna know if the price represents the quality , and if anyone has had experienc with either cz i want to get a pulley , thanks

Personally I'd go with the Unorthodox. I 've checked out the website and I was pretty impressed with some of the dyno results. I they they said a Z32 TT gained around 17lbft of torque and around 38 horses just from one set of pulleys.

But what else was done to the car? And what do you mean by "a set" of pullys?
From what i've seen, a lightweight crank pully for the ka gives about as much as most other boltons, ~5hp or so.

reminder pullys dont really give u hw..it frees up hp

so they don't give you like a little extra low-end pull or anyhting like that???hhmmmzzz... what about a pulley and electric fan , what are my chances of that helping cz someone told me that an electric fan will give you better low-end pull(i'm trying to increase this because with my exhaust i get good high-end power and wanna make up for it now too in lower end

electran fan does the same as a pully, becuz our cars run on belts it takes up hp, but if take away that machanic fan and replace with electric its not running on the belts no more so u "free up" hp again

how do u know what size belt to get after u've removed ur fan?... cuz wouldn't it need a smaller fan?

dude, that pulley that connects to the fan powers the water pump, you cant get rid of that...

lol.. the pulley that powers the fan, runs everything. there is no need to buy a new belt just to remove the clutch fan from the pulley.
Also The UR pulley is a little lighter than the asp pulley, and generally the UR pully is ~$70 more. I've done research on both, and would probably go with the asp b/c it's heavier, and is suppose to offset the loss of the harmonic dampner that is on the OEM pulley. You can get the asp at speedalliance for $107.

That is true, it does nothing to make the boom bigger...but it would add hp on a dyno, so it does give you more hp to the wheels and anything that makes my wheels turn harder/faster makes me happy <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

ok so i don't wanna sound like a lame-ass here but , what can i do to get that horsepower, that i "free-up" from the pulleys and electric fan, into my car to give me more horsepower?
nothing <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> when you free it up, you get it. No extra steps. When the power of the engine has less work to do spinning heavy pullies and stuff, more of it's energy can go to spinning the wheels, which is the ultimate goal ofcourse <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

"Free up HP" is another term for reduce parasitic drivetrain loss. Your crank HP will be the same, but you'll reflect more at the wheels. As it stands, a typical DOHC 240 will run between 120 and 140 hp at the wheels. Making less mass for the engine to rotate cuts back on the difference between this and the 155 rated at the crank. Things like lightweight pulleys, no clutch fan, lightened flywheel, lightened driveshaft will gve your car a quicker feel, and it will be more rev happy. All in all, though, this will likely effect feel more than performance. Still, nothing wrong with it :-)

i think if u used all those, i dont think its good for the enigne to change its rotational mass. i dunno correct me if im wrong

why would it be?

ok well thank you guys , the way someone said , "i won't get more horsepower, i'll just free it up"sounded like it wasn't being put back into the car somewhere or something , i misunderstood one of you for awhile , but now i understand

I know its all technical, but 'free-up' and 'adding', are terms, what it comes down to is more power, and I think most of us understand that <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

well all I know is I had a lightened flywheel on my KA24de and it made a hell of a difference in acceleration and revs . i.e. I was getting more of the horsepower the engine was putting out delivered to the wheels, It also made the engine rev up faster and smoother .(though not quite as smooth as a SR <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> ) but I was glad I did it.
people kept on asking me what I had done to the engine when I took them for rides and all I had besides the flywheel was intake and exhaust and of course 91 cams <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

Dont know how it is with the 240's but being a Z guy I know the difference between the two for Z's. For Z'sThe UR is an underdrive pulley, and the ASP is just a lightened pulley. I would call or email and inquire about the two. I would think the same would be ture for the 240 but who knows.
