So my 240sx sounds like a dam bigrig when rpms increase.
The noise is from the fan.

I thought the clutch fan was bad so i bought a new one, and it still does the same thing.

I searched and it said that its *not spose to Spin when the motor is Cold.
Right now as it is, the fan spins hard when i do a cold start.

Anyone got ideas?

the fan is hookeed up to your water pump
which belt is to the crank
which means it will always spin

wow

please dont touch another car in your life.

LOL,
the thing is it was never this loud

btw the clutch fan is not a solid peice connected to the water pump

just b/c its bolted to it doesnt mean it has to spin all the time

the clutch fan is 2peices and there is a bearing inside

just asking for help, no need to be jackass

wait, did you just buy another fan?(the plastic part?) or a fan CLUTCH (the metal part that the fan attaches to).

Does your car overheat when your stopped? When the clutch goes out it does make a louder noise. You sure you replaced the correct part???

i replaced only the clutch fan(metal) no the fan itself

car does not overheat

i got the new clutch fan from carquest

alright

#1 the fan is supposed to spin when its cold. it'll just spin less.
#2 it has a viscous clutch, not a bearing. there's fluid inside that locks up as it gets hotter, just like a vlsd.
#3 when the s14 fan dies, it locks up all the time. so the car won't overheat regardless (unlike a rx-7 clutch fan). if its real bad, it'll make belt squeal from the fan trying to spin at high rpms with the engine.
#4 imo just get another one from the junkyard. i don't know what carquest is but the replacement you got was probably generic and is therefore not working well.

or you could ditch the clutch fan all together and buy dual altima fans for about $50 at the junkyard, and wire that up to run when the ignition is on.

I did that after my clutch fan snapped the studs holding it on the water pump and had to tow my car back home because it was late and I couldn't see shit in my engine bay (the fan actually disconnected some wires in the process, one was to the distributor)

i think i have the same problem rite now, just happend a day or too ago. after driving to work and parking, i noticed it sounded different wen i revved it even just a lil before i shut it off.

freaked me out, cus my OEM exhaust just died and was replaced from the cat back, plus pipe infront of cat was replaced, so now im hearing air noise from the front and im freaking out! like wat could possibly be left of the OEM crap thats gonna fall off?? but im seriously lost, was hoping u guys had an answer.
im starting to think maybe sumn is gonna just fall off and the car is gonna get hella loud again lol

the fan is blowin hella hard, but sumone said it culd be thermostat.

my car does the same problem. The fan sound will go away in a few min then it will come back. People in signal auto said its normal. But it gets kinda annoying because my car sounds like a semi truck. lol I bought my fan clutch from autozone sooo idk. O_O

This is your issue. My clutch stuck and it sounded the same way. So much in fact when I stepped on the car, people looked because it sounded like it had a supercharger on it (air wise). Ended up being a little bit of wired from the road wrapped itself around the shaft between the clutch and front engine case and somehow wore it out.
