Get some needle nose pliers.

Clip the wire, and start rotating the pliers, so the wire wraps around it.

have a friend or someone slightly "pitty pat" (bump) the hood.

that sux, you might have to take the whole front end apart and unbolt the latch, or maybe play with it a little bit and see if you can take a screw driver and get it to open that way

the same thing was happening to mine, I just had my friend pull up on it while I pulled the hood release.

the wire isnt there anymore...it came right off the latch...

and i cant reach under cuz...well the new IC is in the way...and i cant take the front end apart because there are 4 bolts under the hood that need to be taken off to remove bumper...

Reach under the car, up to where the latch is and grab the cable... give it a yank. Have someone else push down on the hood while you do this.

Take it back to the shop.

Tell them you tried to open the hood, and it wouldnt open at all.

Let them know it used to function well befor you brought it in, but it broke off with ease.

They are not technically "liable" for it, but If you just paid some thousands

to get a CA18 swap, they should have some courtesy to help ya.

I think the important question here is... why the hell would you get a CA??

This is the Nissan gods paying you back for getting that motor..

happens. u can do the obvious tries (have a friend pull up while you pull the release cable, reach under the bumper). if that doesnt work just pull the bumper off and figure it out from there. i had to do that and pieces went flying. lol, fixed it and is fine now though.

Use a long screw driver to get to the latch. you should be able fit it between the I/C and the bumper. I think spenc wants his keys back too. CA power

dude, i gave you a general idea for all who've had a problem with a stuck hood. if your cables not there, then take off your bumper and start unbolting/unlock the latch and go from there. work at it and it will unlatch.

edit: unless you have x-ray vision or get lucky, you aint gonna be able to pick that latch open keeping the bumper on (tried and sweared as i took my bumper off). gona be greasy too. take off your bumper!

In case you can't read... I already offered my help!! and watch you mouth. This is a forum not you locker room.

I just don't belive its worth the money. I have done a few for customers and they are never worth the time or money spent.

I have seen them even bored to 1.9L with a Gt28 and still not able to put down more than 275whp. The head just dont flow, the low flow makes foe lag, and the wiring sucks too....

Or a NA Sr20DE that put down 182whp with just bolt ons, total less than $1500 with swap and all.

The last SR I did has 287whp on a t25 and less than 3k in it for swap and all.
Our RB is 697whp with ... well its got a lot of money....

Just my thinking ... I would have just went SR or RB

Ok... you got me then... The way you wrote makes it like your saying it broke under the dash...... my bad

Ok so do you have a front mount?

DALAZ_68

FMIC...yes...yes i do...its covering the whole front so i cant reach under...sausage fingures lol

Yea, your going to have to take off the bumper .. OR .. if your good with your tools. Take a ext and your 10.. slide in at the light and move over to the latch and loosen the bolts. Then you can lift the hood alittle and get in there better to take off the bolts.

DALAZ_68
11-30-2007, 03:18 PM
Stop looking for a easy way out and just take off your bumper and give it a shot. Your going to waste more time trying to figure out a quicker route.

goodluck-

not neccessarally wasting time...im at work right now for another hour...still gotta go and buy a new wire for the release anyway...i say i have about 5 hours to kill for some other suggestions

preytell...how am i gonna get to the top 4 bolts where the hoot sits? seriously...im asking

Try to remove the intercooler so you can gain access to the latch. Get some wire and while pushing down the hood, unlatch the hook.
If not, time to remove the latch mechanism completly

im considering tryin that with couple of swivles

!Zar!
11-30-2007, 03:54 PM
What the fuck is so hard about this?

Unbolt the mechanism and since that is the ONLY thing holding your hood down, you'll be able to gain access to the release with pliers.

drill out the hood

then, perfect excuse for cf hood!! win!!

i would just take it back to the shop and make them fix it tho.

"hey thanks for the swap. buuttt..... i can't open my hood now. help me out?"

Thats your problem you dot a ca18 under the.:keke:
Jp well look on the bright side if you get pulled over
they wont be able to pop your hood.

Gumballf355
11-30-2007, 05:56 PM
Take it to a bodyshop and ask them to pop it for you... a competient mechanic should beable to do it without breaking anything.

Seriously, take it to a shop if you can't figure it out with any sort of ease. If you can't take the bumper off and remove the latch mechanism - or don't want to - then just take it back to the shop and ask them to do it. If they're cool about it, they'll do it for free since you just spend a ton of money with them. If they're dicks, then they'll charge you money. Either way, you'll have it fixed without fucking your car up further.

I broke an extension stud off in the back of my T25. After I pulled the turbo, I spent a couple minutes trying to drill the stud out, with no luck. Did I give up? No, I kept fucking around and broke a drill bit off in it before I gave up and took it to a machine shop. Cost $65 to have it drilled out; if I hadn't broken a bit off in it, it probably would have been $30.

Nobody in this thread cares what you think about the CA motors. This thread is about opening a stuck hood. Post your opinion in the CA thread.

To the op did you try yanking the cable with a vice grip? I couldn't really understand your description of the wire snapping off. Maybe post some pics? Hope you get it all worked out as simply as possible.

u know how the cable connects tot he latch....the latch under the hood that disengages the first lock, so u can use the level to open the hood...

the the cable snapped off, so its not making any contact with the latch, non zero nada....

i dont know how to explain it any clearer....

un other words...the hood latch isnt connected to the cable...at alll...and it still has the lock engaged...hnce i cant get it to open:hsdance:
