Does anyone know where I can get some Yashio Factory products besides Bulletproof Automotive? They're asking too much for the hood and was wondering if there was anywhere else I could get it from?

I also know of Rare Trick, but didn't they go out of business or something? They had the hood listed for $880 or something which was awesome...

I was told that the price of parts from Japan are going up because the US dollar is not worth as much as it use to be. It just takes more US dollars nowadays to equal a certain amount of Yen. That was the explanation for the markup.

this is correct, bulletproof is one of the cheapest places to get special order 100% pure JDM items in the country.
they do tremendous volume, and that's why they're doing what they are with prices, they're pretty much the go-to guys for amuse, J's, and ASM in my book, even Go-tuning doesn't have better prices on ASM gear and they're an authorized ASM distributor.

That's correct, the U.S. dollar keeps going down in value, it's worth less than half of what it was worth at its peak 6 years ago.

I talked to the people at the jdm-option booth at D1 and they said that they will start importing yf parts. They had a few of their items on display like an okachan water temp gauge, yf pulleys and a yf water temp sensor adapter all in traditional anodized yf pink. yay!

Japanparts doesn't have Yashio listed on the list of manufacturers that they can get. I'll shoot them an e-mail though and I'm pretty sure it's the same with rhdjapan though. Anywhere else? I know autobacs can get it but i'll get raped even harder with the prices than bulletproof :(

Also, how can I get a hold of them? Do they have a number or e-mail where I can reach them. I only know of jdm-option being a magazine/video... But I guess I'm wrong?

Got a 3 price quotes and they were normally in the $1300 range... But surprisngly super autobacs was $1000. Is there anywhere else that I'm not checking that could be cheaper? And still be a reliable source for this part?

Alright thanks, I'll check out jspec (never thought of them for some reason) and ravspec? I'll look into them, but is $1000 inculding shipping a good price? I'm sure I can trust super autobacs, so I wouldn't mind spending a LITTLE extra money to have that reassurance.

Never mind about jdmoption they are quite expensive. Sam at jspec is good. Also give my friend Ryan a call. He owns creative car audio gets monthly containers. The number to his shop is 562-623-0777 tell him Norm referred you. good luck! He can also import jdm spec cars (s15's, etc.)

Yeah, bulletproof is a no-go.
I try'd to order the buddy club spec II through them when it first came out in Japan a few years ago. They swore up and down they would import it to me.
8 months later, they picked it up from buddy club so-cal when it debuted here.
Whatever now, but I paid $100 over retail for a reason, not for jokers.

Too bad there is no such thing as Yashio Factory USA... But the only reason why I considered bulletproof is because they had all the stuff I wanted for my S2000 back then and noticed they had S14 stuff (yashio)
I'm just looking for a reputable shop that won't rip me off because I've had a bad experience with bride stradia seats a year ago before much of anyone knew about them and got screwed out of $1700 and have to take them to court on the 19th. And as of right now that seems to be Super Autobacs.

Yeah try calling him tomorrow. BTW I tried working at bulletproof for about a week so i had the chance to see how they operate. They are a low volume retailer that focuses on exclusive (expensive) jdm parts. In order for them to make a profit they need to mark up the already expensive prices. The owner (Ben Schaeffer) is going after a dying market strategy/niche. There is NO MONEY in selling car parts unless you go wholesale but most shops die off before they get to that level.

Thanks for the help guys, but I think I'm just gonna make a trip down to autobacs this monday or something and order a hood. I'll be sure to post it up as soon as I get it with some hood pins. :)
