I searched and couldn't find anything.
My buddy is going to give me a set of 3000gt wheels 16x8 +46mm and I want to know if they will clear my Z brakes.
I couldn't find anything on google either. Any help would be appreciated! Not sure if this is the right spot for this!
Any pictures would be nice too. Thanks!

Man I'm speechless... why would you put such awful wheels on your car?

Holy freaking spacers.
I'm sure you have to use a pretty big spacer.
Perhaps 30-40mm spacers
Not worth it. Just sell it and get new wheels.
It's like free money.

Well I'm "offset challenged" and I don't understand it at all. I just figured since they were free winter wheels I'd give them a shot. I know they would be hideous, but it's only for the winter time. Thanks for the feedback.

tisk tisk...learn your offsets!
i didn't really understand offset either, until i saw something like this. THEN it all fell into place.

I still don't really understand it. If it's +46mm wouldn't that mean that it would have more room for the brakes to fit? But thanks!
EDIT: Never mind, I didn't read the caption underneath the pictures. I get it! Thanks a lot!

offset doesnt affect brake fitment
lllloooolllll

Gotcha! It makes more sense to me now. Thanks!
offset has nothing to do with brake clearance, you can get negative offset 15" meshes that still wont fit brakes b/c of how small of a mounting pad it has, and the spoke design. The same way, you can get honda wheels with a +50 offset that will fit a big brake kit.
the only thing offset can tell you is if the wheel will stick out, or hit your suspension/coilovers

christ
you people are stupid
OFFST DOES NOT AFFECT BRAKE CLEARANCE
its spoke design.
you'll hit your suspension before anything else most likely

So I might still have a chance?!

I would definitely test em to make sure they clear the suspension, first.

WOW u have almost have half 100 offset..... those would look atrociously horrible!
and if u get spacers, u do have a better chance of clearing brakes.

Would I need to use an outrageous amount of spacers? (like said above)

Yes...to make something like that look decent, go get atleast a 40mm spacer or chunk of aluminum.

Well, I mean, I don't really care how it looks. I just want them to fit, so I can have winter rims. Let me tell you, we got snow the other day (only about two inches), but driving around with 10.5" tires out back sucked.
So no one has ever tried this before?

Well I don't have the wheels yet, I wasn't going to bother if they're not going to fit.

dont bother
if u want winter wheels, steal some SE wheels

Oh trust me I would much rather have those, but I'm low on cash and I'm sure the junkyards around here don't happen to have se wheels lying around, haha. These were just at hand and I figured, what the hell, they're free. If you know anyone selling some se wheels for cheap let me know!

+46mm on an 8 inch wheel will hit the strut. Hard. Plus the center bore of the wheel doesn't match, so they won't clear the hub at all anyway. And that's after they hit the caliper halfway on to the studs.
You'd be better off using longer studs and mounting them backwards if you were really inclined to use them because that's the only way they'll fit.

That's all I wanted to hear! Thanks for the answer. Time to find some se wheels!
