long story short; bent inner tein tie rod and heard teins are the same as oem 300zx, ordered one from a twin turbo and it turned out to be shorter than tein, ended up getting another tein tie and spl outers. Put on spl outers along with the new inner and it seems like theteins are to long for the spl ends. I've threaded everythingall the way int the end and I still have ridiculous toe in. Are the teins not compatible?

It requires a different version (short-type) which we no longer sell regularly, because you may have to trim your inner tie rod to get the toe in spec, there is just not a whole lot of adjustment possible with that setup. Also the buckle is steel rather than the new super duralumin material. We can prepare the short-type tie rod end on a special order basis.
Oh, so if I get the outer tie rods from you guys, I pretty much have to run Z32 inners on my S14?

I had the same problem with my URAS inner and D-Max outers, I couldn't get a straight answer in Japan when I ordered it because I couldn't ask the question well enough. Anyway, I just ended up having to cut 15mms off of each side of the inner tie rod, now I have a poop ton of adjustment and still have more steering angle (I wouldn't recommend hacking it up unless you feel comfortable doing so - everything works perfectly fine on mine).

use s14 inners
s14 outers from spl

z32 inners

its really not THAT hard to figure out.

you have to run the s14 tien inners

All tein inners are S14 thread and pitch. That's why they come with the Tein Outer as well.

If you run any inner tie rod on the NEW SPLs that isn't a Z32, you will have to cut it because the threaded part that accepts the inner tie rod has less space to accept the threaded inner.

Kuah said in his SPL sale thread that they CAN make the shorter type outer tie rod end, but it's special order only.

Thank you for all yours guys help, I guess I'll end up cutting 15mm or so off the tie rod if i cant afford another 2+2 rod. The rod ends are great, everyone I've showed them to are really impressed,

sorry to wake up the old thread but I didn't want to clutter up the forum w/ new thread. So how come tein inner/outer package tie rod are so cheap compare to kazama/peak/battleversion. Even tie package is less expensive than the outer of peak/battleversion. Is Tein less quality or something b/c the tein outer is cover w/ rubber joint whereas other makes have metal joint.

i wouldnt say less quality at ALL. ive had a few different tie rod ends and the teins are by far my favorite. the spherical bearing rod ends wear out WAAYYY to fast. the longest any of mine lasted was less than a year.
probably the reason most manufacturers say "OFF ROAD USE ONLY"

Teins are cheaper because they use OEM style ball joint in their outer tie rod as compared to SPL version.

Their inners are pretty thin from what I recall as well.

so is the tein oem style ball joint not as good as metal joint?

are you saying tein inner rod are thin and not any bigger than stock S14 inner? and shouldn't be replace?
