My friend is going to japan and he said he can get me some Kei Office coils for about $700 or JIC FLT-A2's for about $900...

What do you guys think? Which should I go with? Oh yeah. The Kei Office are S15 coils actually... those will bolt onto S14's right?

i have kei office and the only thing about them that i dont like is that you can not get them rebuilt if they blow, and iirc the s15 coilovers will fit cause they used the same suspension parts off the s14

No one should be buying Kei Office coilovers anymore.

everyone I talk to has had horrible customer service wtth JIC USA unles they actually know workers there. There are many other companies you could choose from.
Drift factory or speed factory, I don't recall the name of the company att this time (located in cerriots) are importing DG5s.

Ok, so JIC it is... But I kinda liked the rarity fact of the kei office. Anyway I heard the japanese valving is different from the american ones... Is it better?

Rarity cause a company went out of business is not exactly the kind of rarity I think you'd shoot for when shopping for coilovers.

And yes, the Japan spec valving on FLT-A2's are more "aggressive" than US Spec, but you can get both Japan spec and US Spec in the USA from JIC USA.

DG5's high end line is supposed to be good, but their lower entry level stuff just looks normal.

And since a window shopper will ask, you can get DG5 through the shop Drift Speed

I've been happy with my Kei Office since I bought them, but due to the lack of support if one blows (like others have been saying) I'd say to go with the JIC's

Are these new JICs for $900? If so, I've nothing to say. If they're not, you don't HAVE to get either of the two, you can find an equal product with much more and possibly better support stateside.

+1. if these are not new, don't bother wasting your time and money. just get stance or something stateside.

have you guys considered taking your blown coilovers to a motor cycle shop. close to the same set up as whats on the backs of dirt bikes and crotch rockets. i have heard of a few people doing this.

No they're not new. They're used from upgarage... So I'm still debating on whether or not I want new Stance GR+ or used JIC FLT-A2 (japanese valving)... Is there anything else that wouldn't be ridiculously stiff (not looking to drift just grip) for under $1100-$1200?

So basically what I'm asking is if the valving of the Stance's is comparable to that of the JIC's? I know the JIC's perform awesome, but are the Stance's really that good for the money? Because for the most part you get what you pay for when it comes to car parts.

They're definitely going to have similar valving since they're both designed with similar spring rates and purposes in mind. Which is more aggressive, that IDK. I'd say just stick with the JIC's. I have a set of japanland flt-a2's coming to my house myself so maybe I'm being a bit bias. :D

Coilovers one of those things that I wouldnt wanna buy used. Theres no way you can tell exactly the condition of used coilovers until you put them on. I'd say save your money for something new/better than used coilovers...

Ideally you'd shoot for something like a custom Koni or Bilstein/GC set up, there was a thread about custom Konis not long ago in General>Tech if you want to read about them. My friend daily drives and tracks the Stances and likes them for what they are, a prepackaged/easy solution with good stateside support. I daily and track my KTS/SPL coilovers, and share the same sentiment. Although we both regret not being man enough to go the custom Koni or Bilstein route from the very beginning...

I wouldn't buy into this JDM valving being more aggressive... what does aggresive mean? More compression damping? More isn't always better. And I definitley wouldn't buy used coilovers, especially without knowing their history, and especially from JIC, who, from all accounts, has questionable service.

Its not a gimmick. JIC sells their US stuff with lighter spring rates and less aggressive damping to match.

I didn't mean to make it sound like there's no difference between JIC's USDM and JDM stuff. I just meant that the OP shouldn't equate "more aggressive" with absolute better performance. Too stiff springs and dampers can be counterproductive and tires and intended use are certainly also factors to consider also. If the OP wants to learn more about good dampers he should check out the Koni/GC thread.

Yeah typically the only used coilovers I'd consider buying is from a friend, who is the original owner.

Other than that you got 1 in the chamber ready to blow.

I dont know if its been explained why JDM setups are stiffer than USDM setups. Japan has better roads (supposedly) and americans are too whiny when it comes to their potholes when they daily the bitch.
