i have this 89 240. sohc. the problem is something that cuts off my gas when i corner HARD. only hard. if i was to take a left turn, all slow, and have the car travel in a motion similiar to bent 90, it doesn't happen. NOW. if i come to the same turn and cut the corners and both entrance and exit points, sharpest part of the wheel turn, it cuts off the gas. 2 weeks ago i was at the drift track, and i was unable to power out of turns properly or even do donuts. i was told to play with the baffles in the fuel tank, but no luck. pulled the fuel pump out so many times, even tried a walboro pump. please help i have another event coming up, this sunday. about the car, it has a great tranny, short shifter. pacesetter headers and a full catback exhaust. air filter, gutted. and an lsd, with stock tires, upgraded rotors. i was wondering if it is possible that the steering column knuckle is making contact with the egr pipe? when i installed the headers we had a little fitment issue, especially when the motor mounts aren't really up to par. i'm going to have this taken care of tommorow, but i dont believe its the problem. any suggestions??!?!

does it do it with a full tank?

does it do it with a full tank?

yeah.. or 3/4 for that matter?

all the gas in the tank is probably going to one side and the pickup cant suck in any fuel.

you might also try checking your fuel filter and anything else fuel related.
[fuel lines, fuel pickup, injectors, fpr, etc.]
just troubleshoot. shouldnt be too hard to find.

And get a surge tank, collector tank, whatever its called.
I had the same symptoms, when on track with under 1/2 tank full. got really annoying and eventually killed the pump.
i bought this Attain tank

A little pricey but hold enough fuel to compensate and small enough to fit anywhere you want. It is also an in tank pump setup so no external pump needed. I dropped a walbro in there and have never been happier.
There are cheaper solutions but this suited my needs
