So my friend just picked up an s14. Everything was fine for a couple days but today he went to get in it and the key would not work in the lock. He opened it from the passenger side, got in, unlocked it from the inside and the alarm went off. He has no alarm button on his keys and had no way of turning off the alarm but to pull the battery cable. Now he cant start the car at all. I would assume he just needs the unlocking button but is there anything else he can do?

Open the door again and the alarm should go off, close the door put the key in and lock the door with the key from the outside, wala! Alarm should stop, and the car should start again!
Did you try using the key to unlock the door? If it's a stock alarm, there's a good chance that by using the key to unlock the door, it'll disable it. Even thought it's not the same car, it worked on my Maxima... Just tossing a thought.

Yeah really odd. Could be that he had the ignition switch changed therefore needing 2 diff keys, one for the ignition and another for the doors! Just a headsup.

Yeah, my car (this 1 is a 240) requires 2 different keys... Do you know if his does as well?

I would hate that. Too bad you dont have power locks! Power locks + alarm = FTW!
Who, me? I have power locks... I just don't know if the car has an alarm. I doubt it. I'm working on a kill switch anyway.

Yeah kill switch is a great thing to have. You should really look into it.

sounds like you have a factory alarm.
if when the alarm goes off and it honks instead of a siren... then its oem.
theres a way to bypass it.
all aftermarket alarms do when they are installed.
sometimes wiggling the key helps it work.
my key cylinder is old and sometimes doesnt work unless the key is exactly where it wants to be.
