So, for Thanksgiving I came home and I had a few things waiting for me. Of course I was excited, like any gear head, I was looking forward to installing my newly acquired Koyo rad. http://www.ka-t.org/forums/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif It was alll shiny and thick. (<- that may have sounded like a homosexual pun, but i assure you it wasnt intentional.) But anyway, since I had finished up my KA-T project, I noticed that it was running a bit hot when I get into it every now and then. So I got the koyo and dropped it in. On top of that, I had an SAFC 2 lying around so I finally threw that in as well.
The install of both went very smoooothly, and while I was messing with my car I decided to re-route some wires and make the engine bay look semi- pretty. Unfortunately, thanksgiving break was over and I had to head back to school http://www.ka-t.org/forums/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif . Being OCD, I filled up the gas tank with some genuine 93 octane BP gas with invigorate and reset the trip meter. Off I went back to school. While cruising for 2 hours, obviously, I messed with the safc. checking my afr's while I was on the highway, I was upset because they were a bit too rich. Still under vacuum, running 12-13:1 afr was noooo good, IMO.
Back in the day when I finished my KA-T, I got the good ol' guys at enthalpy to set up a tune for my 550cc injectors and z32 mafs. The tune was basically what I expected, but not as good as it could be. With the help of the afc and my awesome blue led wideband gauge powered by innovative's wideband controller, I began to lean things out. During cruising I had the afr's steady at 14.7-15.2. Previously, I was getting a respectable 25-26 mpg on the highway. I got back to school and filled up the tank again, Although I only burnt a little over a quarter of a tank and calculated my mpg. Just guess what they came out to be!!! a whopping 36.56 mpg!! To me, having a boosted 14.5 year old car and getting better gas milage than a brand new 2008 corolla is bad ass.
I doubt most of you guys looking at this thread read the entire post. But it's alllll gooood. I figured I post my findings becasue I'm slightly retarded and the smallest things amuse me. http://www.ka-t.org/forums/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
