Firstly, this should be in the tech forum.
Secondly, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it is illegal to put a motor into a car where the motor is older then the car itself.
Thirdly, as far as I know there are no "blue-prints" to swapping in a SR, your best bet is advice from people who have done it and Heavy Throttle (http://www.heavythrottle.com).
Best of luck.

Who cares if the engine is older or not, it's illegal regardless.
It's like worrying that you forgot to properly use your turn signal as you speed away from a bank robbery.
Yeah, Heavy Throttle's FAQ section will give you a lot of what you need to know.
yeah, the SR is illegal for a number of reasons. Most people don't really care, myself included <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
As far as putting it in yourself, I wouldn't attempt it if you've never done an engine swap before...you'll find that heavy throttle will most likely tell you the same. However, if it's not your primary means of transportation and you really want to learn, then more power to you ( <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> in more ways than one) and props when you finish it! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Are you sure it's illegal everywhere in North America... because I remember one guy saying that his insurance covered his car with an SR... in a sense that they didn't cover the engine itself, but they didn't drop him.

Insurance companies DO usually cover motor swapped cars. What most insurance adjusters don't know is what engine is in the car. As long as the number of cylinders is the same, most insurance companies won't look beyond that.
Emissions, and smog testing is another story, though. This is where you have to have an engine of the same number of cylinders, from a model year that's the same or newer than the vehicle, and is sold new in the US.
Most ASE certified mechanics are over-worked and under-payed, and wouldn't mind making a little money on the side. Lucky for us...

Yeah, you can put and S13 motor in and S14. They use the same engines.

Oh do they? "Same" engine... Lovely bit of misinfo there.
It can be done but the wiring is a little convoluted. Check this: S13 into S14 wiring guide (http://sr20.hybrids.jp/installations/s13sr_into_s14/s13sr_into_s14.html)
Yo, id say to let him go ahead and try. Everyone always says "i wouldent try it as ur fist swap" but you have to start somewhere. My friend put a B16 in a CRX and def didnt do it perfect, but it was his first try. Now, 6 years later hes a skilled mechanic looking for a larger facility for his import tuning shop.
basically, gotta start somewhere, might as well be now.

Look guys, your not talking about trying to fit a big block into a sentra, your talking about an easy swap. If I was to suggest any engine swap as a learning experience, this would be a great start. :!: :!:

A 91-94 S13 has the SAME engine as a 95-97. Where is the misinfo?
