Well, a few of you might know my old zenki was totalled a while back, I got a decent insurance check, and put it as a down payment on an 04 GTO. While it is a really nice car, tons of power, fun to drive, theres just something about domestics, and the somewhat sluggish handling, and the expensive 600/mo car payment/insurance bill... lol.
Anyways, I found a cobalt green auto kouki I might want to trade the GTO in for, which would make me have a 165 a month insurance payment and thats it, and I would get to be behind the wheel of that 125whp KA auto instead of the 350hp ls1 m6.. haha. RB/SR Swap would probably be in the works, since I am actually making enough to where I could afford the swap now, and I would get to spend money in upgrades rather than a car payment. Truth is, I really miss everything about the 240 community, and just 240sx's altogether. Has anyone else ever made the switch from a new car back to 240's and what was your thoughts on it?

First time i turned my 240 into a project so i bought a 04 Sentra spec-v for the daily.. had it about 5 months and went back to a 240 for the daily. Then sold it got a Audi TT had it about 6 months and sold it to go back to a 240. There is just something about these cars and i just cant stay away. I honestly liked driving the 240 better then the TT.

i had an 03 vdub gti 1.8t. didn't pull hard enough, parts were too expensive for it, and i just didn't feel it, i thought i was into the v-dub euro scene, it had leather seats and was actually too nice for my taste, paying basically teh same you did for your GTO with insurance and loan, sold it for 10 grand, paid off the loan, and instead bought a $1200 dollar car lawl...

Having both cars, they have completely different personalities. Driving the GTO is like wielding a sledgehammer. While it is fun to drive, it doesn't have the light handling characteristics of the S14. They both give me goofy grins in their own respects.

GTO's are beasts, I love them... but not 600 bucks a month love. Imagine what you could do with that kind of extra loot if you put it away for a few months... yeah, you could do an LS1 S14, and swap the GTO interior while youre at it.

yeah I had an 05 evo, paying about the same a month, plus 270 for insurance. always wanted a 240, so I got rid of ithe evo and bought a 240, wanted one back when they were new. I like the car alot. The evo of course was very nice, and yeah more girls liked it. But a 240 modded nicely can still get girls, not in build up form tho, but whateva. I love the 240, good car to downgrade to, cause it has endless mods, cheap, and good support from aftermarket not to mention this forum as well as others. I pay now 140 bux a month for insurace. And the s14 I got was cheap, and needed eveything from brakes to shocks and the engine has 207,000 miles on it. But every pay day i throw something at it. And slowly it becomes better and better. Goal is to make it a quick fun daily driver/weekend warrior.

Go wreck the GTO and get insurance money out of it. Buy back the car and pull the engine...swap that into an S-chassis.

The only thing is beware, the same issue that only hondas used to have(thief, ricers, haters) is in this community now.

well, I live in arkansas so its not THAT bad but it still exists, but Ill be sure to get an alarm when I start adding parts. Talked to the guy again through email, and he said theyd give me 15k + id get back 1k for my warranty. I hate dealing with dealerships, lol. The kouki has 141k miles on it so I know they didnt give that much for the car. I hate that since i spent 19k just 5 months ago and id only be getting 16k. Is there any tactics you guys know dealing with these guys?

1. don't sell your car to a dealership :P

you can't expect to get a fair price trading your car in it's a dealership. they give you a bad deal you take it out of convenience ( quick sale ) they sell your car for more and make profit.

this sounds better to me:
sell the car to a person
pay off your debt with the money
buy a 240 off a private owner and mod away

I had a heavily modded Subaru WRX that was totaled (not my fault). Through the insurance bullshit I have still not seen any money so I bought a 240sx as a rebound car. But now it has become more than that and I decided I am going to keep it.

The car is timeless. I remember when I bought my first s13, it had its myriad amount of problems but damn I loved it to death still. My friend whos a honda fanatic drove my car with nothing but an apexi n1 catback exhaust, when he hit the turn and gave it a little gas and that rear end kicked out he was sold.

I plan on getting an Evo IX in the future but there will always remain a 240 in my driveway, driving anything else to me seems taboo.

The GTOs were way too underrated. If they had given them another name other than GTO, the people that wanted a nasty ass retro version would have at least took a second look. I hate the retro look. Main reason I bought the car. Best car I've ever owned.
