hello
i m looking for a new tubby for my rebuild s13
does the 2871r 64ar. spool alot better than the 3071 64 ar.? or does the 3071 spool like 500rpm later?
my engine is full rebuild with headwork, new top and bottom end parts etc... cams are the original

My GT2871R .64 with headwork was fully spooled by around 3500. Get the 3071 some Tomei procams should help spool it up.

get the comp. maps and compare them, you can plot them out using directions for garret's website, i think its honeywell turbos or something like that.....
for a 2.0l id go with the3071r it will probably be a little later spool up but it should have more up top...

what motor do you have? that will make a difference. I will asume you have a SR. There are many things you can do to help the turbo lag. Google search can be your best friend. The results can vary depending on your build and tunning.

ahh you son of a bitch!! nice 4 port head you got there.. i dont think you'll have any problem spooling a 3071. did you find any cams for that beast?

Get a twin-scroll 3071R and a twin-scroll manifold. Spools pretty much the same as the single-scroll 2871R.

haha where in germany are you? I just left from kaiserslautern a few months back.
Anyway when it spools will vary on your other supporting mods. If you do it right you can make it hit full boost at near the 2871r.
Adjustable cam gears,
Cams
good tune,

In your pic up there are those valves new? Also me being a CA lover do you know where to get some new lifters? When i was in germany up there nissan wanted like 60 euro EACH! 60 x 16 = NOFUCKINGWAY!! lol
Nice build!

CA18 won't have Twinscroll manifolds.
3071 is a better turbo than the 2871 on paper.
CA18 probably won't be at full boost on a 3071 till after 4500. make reasonable power even later.
dunno what it would do on a 2871, probably have a snowballs chance in hell at having a good powerband with either turbo.

2871r is what im using on my build. gonna push the motor at 1.5-1.8 bar and see what numbers i can push out. Then i will upgrade turbo system to topmount and something different.
What kinda driving you looking to do? Id recomend the gt2871r and get some nice cams. 1.3 bar with a CA and that turbo feels pretty good and as long as you tune it good and run high octane you wil be fine. Id say to really make the gt3071r efficent on the CA it would require alot more money and work.
EDIT: You could go with the .86 ar if you would like a bit more power. The 2871r with the .86 still hits full boost before the 3071r .64 will. Just some food for thought. I hate turbo lag so i build my setups accordingly.
Let me know if you need anything i have worked on alot of CA's and diff setups when in germany.

so u think the gt2871r should be better? i m happy when i do about 300 - 350 hp, thats good power for the streets

GT3071 is bigger, will make more power than the 2871 but will be laggier for sure. If you go 3071, i suggest you find the most aggressive set of cams you can find to help it spool better. Im not that familiar with CA cams but for SRs, the best cam you can go with would be some Tomei Procams.

what about to go topmount with t3/t4
are there good turbos for t3/t4 like 2871r?

yes i understand (polished is what we would say)
If thats the power you want id go witht he 2871r there will be much less turbo lag. Also if you get cams this will help with some lag a bit as the 2871r still has some. Id go with about 1.1-1.3 bar with that setup and it would be pretty safe. Just dont slam the gas pedal everywhere you go.
What kind of engine management will you be using?

Umm i say not too long ago FRSport.com had a gt2871r with a t3 flange so you could use this turbo top mount. All you would need is a top mount manifold with a t3 flange, gt2871r with with the t3 flange, and then to modify your exhaust side which isnt really that hard.

Atpturbo.com they have the 2871 with the t3 flange or t25. as well as a few different housing selections and what not. one of the best places to buy turbos and what not.
