Antenna Problems/Substitute

Hello all, new here but driven my s13 for about 7yrs and the power antenna finally stopped working... common problem it seems as indicated by various previous posts i've searched, now has anyone
1. replaced the stock antenna with those smaller rubber looking ones?
2. if so, better reception yes, no, opinion?
3. any better way to receive radio signals? (i.e some alternative method so as not to use the broken antenna, rewiring using those wire antennas perhaps??)

Ok, I had the same problem but also had a leaky rear-glass squirter that was letting water into the car so I removed the squirter, cut an appropriate hole and installed a fubu style antenna from Volkswagen.

It was cheaper than after market and looks better IMO
You will need:
-Antenna (go to dealer and buy one)
-Antenna cable to HU (again dealer)
-Antenna in-line amplifier.

Looks nice, but have to get rid of the old antenna now...
