When I give my S13 more than 1/4 throttle the engine will give out an ear piercing whistle. I have traced and checked all vaccuum lines, but they are all fine. I have no idea what it could be. I remember someone saying that the EGR tube may develop a hole over time. Could this be it? I am new to Nissans and just need a bit of direction to tackle this problem. I spent the last 4 years wrenching on Honda's so MAF sensors and EGRs and all that are new to me Thanks for any insight.

Does the car do it in neutral, or only under load?
If it does do it in neutral, put the car on jackstands and have a friend rev it while you look for the source of the wistle.
You'll find it. When you do, let us know what it was.

It's not in the exhaust system per se, I put it up on the lift at my buddies work and the exhaust system didn't have any holes in it.
It will do it in neutral too, so I guess I am going to have to have my buddy stick his head under the hood and look for it. I have been without a set of extra ears for a week since he went to NOPI and is also an engineer with Procter & Gamble so he is out of town alot. Lucky bastard, his new 350z comes in another month. I can't wait for a ride in that!
I will keep you posted.

Be careful with the head near the fan Im not sure what it is if it does it both in neutral and under load... have you checked for codes? Maybe the computer can help you pin point it.

The check engine light does not come on. It flashes when the ignition turns over (like normal) but then turns off. I dunno what the deal is with it. I may just have to give up and take it to the dealer.

I don't know if it's the same sound but my 89 240SX made that sound when I turn the A/C "ON" on a hot day. My friend said it sounds like a BOV.
I think it's something that has to do with the A/C and the air flow.

is it comming from your engine, or your speakers? if its in your speakers, you have enigne noise, from an amp, or a bad deck.
Just something to think about.

mine used to do that. it dissappeared, but i dont remember what did it. could have been HKS exaust, AIV valve removed, or the fan being removed.

The fan is already removed. Where is the AIV at on an S13? I have the FSM, but it sucks nuts. I can't find anything in there.

its on teh drivers side. its got that little black box, thats part of the AIV system. should have a hose goin into the intake box. just yank that whole thing out. you need to get a bolt to fit into the header though to block them. its a wierd size, you can get one at heavythrottle.com.
