I'm pulling my engine soon. I'm going to install my new flywheel, intake manifold, and turbo.
While I'm at it, I decided to overhaul the engine, so I don't have to replace hard-to-get-to parts with the engine in the car.
Here's what I'm planning; let me know If I've left anything out that I should change now:

Performance parts:
Flywheel
Intake Manifold
Turbo
motor mounts

OEM parts:
Head gasket
intake manifold gasket
turbo manifold gasket
turbo gasket
valve cover gasket
oil pan gasket
Water pump
timing chain
oil pump
pulley belt
vacuum lines
O2 sensor
head bolts
pilot/throw-out bearings

That's all I can think of right now. Is there anything I left out? I'd rather take care of it now, while I can.
Also
I'm using a stock head gasket. I plan on making less than 400whp with the new turbo, So I think this will be sufficient. Should I buy a metal one? The car is street driven.

If anyone has any personal experience with metal headgaskets, please give me your opinion.
Thanks

The list looks pretty good to me, but it also looks pretty expensive. Dont forget to change all the fluids, flush them actually... Will repost if I can remember anyhting else. Other than that good luck with the swap, seems like your head is definately in the right place

Thanks, I appreciate that.

If you think of anything, let me know. I won't get around to it for about a month. I ran out of money again.

If that turbo's gonna boost past 14psi you might think about replacing the stock headgasket with a quality metal one.

Probably not a nessicity(I can't spell today) but its one of those better safe than sorry type things.

Sh*t while you at it why don't you do some head work?

Good luck, your a heck of a lot more patient than I am

Im with Foxcolt......I would do some headwork. If you dont wanna do it yourself....send it off (extrude hone) after you've matched the ports (portmatching isnt hard to do yourself...all you need is a gasket, blue metal dye, a scratch awl, and a dremel or drill with the correct attachments). I'd get the cams reground...or get some aftermarket ones. I'd maybe look into getting my header and downpipe hot coated http://www.swaintech.com/index.shtml , and upgrade to a ball bearing center on the turbo.

Compared with the stock HG, ametal one is only like $30-60 or so more. So it's worth just getting a metal one. Perhaps a nice clutch as well. I'm also with the port and polish idea. Any book on blueprinting or modifying engines should explain how to do it. hell I did it before on a set of SBC heads and they came out great. My friend says it was an easy 20HP and about 30Ft-lbs (ported exhaust and touched up intakes). For the first timer it'll cost you about 100 (dremel from sears and stones) after that it's about 10-30 depending on Aluminum or iron heads.
