I have a 1989 240SX and I was wondering what color I should paint my car...I'll be doing a bid, the color that gets picked 5 times is the color I will probably get, so help me out... pick something that is very unique. The thing is I have a dent on my bumper. How much do you think all total will be if I got my bumper fixed and car re-painted?

Paint jobs are alot like tools: you get what you pay for.
You can get a really cheap one (like $200) that will probably fade and chip after a few years, or you can get a top of the line custom job (a friend of mine is getting a custom job thats going to cost him $4000) which will be alot nicer and hold up better than a factory paint job. It all depends on how much money you want to drop on your car. As far as a color... thats kinda up to you. Personally, I'd go for a dark green, cause that is unique, but not really too crazy.
My boyfriend colored his black with a hint of blue. It sparkles off blue shade at certain angles of sunlight. It's really awesome, and it cost some 2000-3000, I think. I'll probably ask him for details so I'll post it back here.
hmm lets see, first off make sure that when you get it painted its a two stage paint job (base coat, clear coat) and the more coats of clear the better glassy shine it will have. If you were gonna get a body kit now is the time, so you can get everything painted at once. I would suggest a bright yellow! or a more stealth color like Electron Blue.

yellow is really hard to pull off, i think. blue sounds good though. it'll make it easier to match up the underhood components too.
yeah, i had a mustang that i painted yellow. I had a nice body kit on it. the original color was white which i just left the engine bay like that. but it didnt look bad at all. but if you go a color change just make sure they shoot the door jams and all that stuff.

Yellow looks dope on a 240. I'd say yellow! Like, totally!

I'd go with a dark blue or black, or go skyline blue, it's bright but not to flashy.

look at that sexy ass! lol
I'm painting mine a high gloss black as soon as I can afford it.
Before I painted mine I was considering Lambhorgini Diablo Purple. It gives a bright color in sunlight, but in dark conditions it almost looks black. Very cool color.

my car is black, but i'm getting a paint job in the spring. i was thinking on silver, but i've decided that's too bright for me. i'm either going with a skyline blue (except a little darker) or a dark forest green. black is cool, but the only bad thing about it, is when it's dirty, it 'really' looks dirty.
:looks out window...yup...it's dirty!:

true...but when it's clean it looks so sharp.
A nice glossy black just gives that "I'm one evil sonofagun and I'm gonna eat you alive" look.:)
For an every-day car, I think charchoal grey or black is awesome. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Yeah, I feel that you all have good opinions on what color to get. But maybe if you can put a link on here with the color you suggested that would be more helpful. Thanks for the feedbacks and great opinions...My car is dark grey right now, and I'm looking for something more darker like some of you said. Metallic black or forrest green will look nice since I have my rear window tinted and my door windows as well... But still I'm kind of picky on which color...Maybe pictures of different colors of my car will be great. So try to send some links to me if that is possible...

that is a Nice Color....I like that Complete black...What if I painted my car all black and since I have my windows tinted as well do you think it'll be a good idea to tint my taillights? Where can I find tinted taillights for 240's any suggestions?
ca18guy

Tinted tailights look cheap in my opinion. Besides I think the red tailights contrast nicely with all black, makes em stand out.

remeber lighter colors show very little defects and dark colors show swirls all depends what you like but i say go all out and do i right the first time i payed $4200 for mine i had to change out the rear quater panel tho
darker colors also get dirty really fast, especially if you park outside-it sucks.

I agree with you s13girl, my car is a dark grey and I always park my car outside. I wash my car once a week and it gets dirty after that day I wash it...Maybe because dark colors attract dust and dirt. Especially when I live somewhere near people who are doing construction all day long.
It sucks, but don't you kind of like cleaning your car? I have a problem with that <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>. Mine's beige, but I clean it all the time anyway. The inside of it used to be brown but I spray-painted it black (and it looks pretty good) so I clean this all the time now. My trunk's my weak spot. Everything I get out of my "cockpit" <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> I put into my trunk  .
I'm probably gonna paint my car next year, so I'm thinking about a dark color-I'd sacrifice the money spent on a car wash-dark cars aren't that noticable <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>.
i have a question about clearcoating.... how much does it cost to have ur stock paintjob clearcoated again to make it shinier?.. can u even do this. i"m a newbie when it comes to paint.. all idea's r welcome.. thanks

I've always been a fan of pearled paint jobs, but they're really expensive, and only look good if they're done really well.

I dont know about you but me and cops dont get along. I'd reccomend a darker color so that you dont attract the wrong type of attention. I like gun-metal gray or a really dark blue. I also hear that you can go to different dealers and get a factory quality paint job in colors that nissan does not offer. I.E. civic si blue (electron blue) That may be cheaper then getting a custom paint job and you will still have the custom look.
Lol, I like that part about you and cops not getting along. I seem to have the opposite problem... or not a problem <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>.
Dealership would not be a bad choice. I know that the Nissan dealer I worked at sent cars to a local body shop and supplied parts (paint, body, etc...) Try it and post back -w- results!

I'd say Nissan Solar Yellow, I'm doing that on my S-14, but I don't know if it would look good on a S-13...
The Hon-duh Taffeta White would look killer on your car, it's kinda like a pearl metallic white-silver

i was thinking about a white pearl or something dark with pearl, but I looking for something solid...Thanks for the suggestions though.
Hey Freak, you're talking about that new pearl-creamy-white that comes on brand-new preludes? If yes, that color is DOPE. I would definitely get it. It's the only light color besides yellow that i'd put on my car. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

s13grl, yep, that same one... and about the yellow, I've seen some yellow s-13s and I don't like it too much because it has a lot of black trim and it contrasts too much, especially with the lil' stripe that runs all around the car, but in white it looks hella good, so just imagine it in the pearl-creamy-white

There is a 240 with a custom paint job that looked awesome. He did it in a green very similar to the the green on the new VW's. I know it sounds horrid, but it looked sweet. But if you don't, go yellow, bright but not floresent (spelling???).
Good luck with the job

I just got my 92 prelude painted pearl with a blue audi tint to it. The pearl is from the new prelude and I can't remember what the tint is but it looks so sweet and I bet it would look sweet on a 240 too.

I LOVE the metallic grey/brown on the new Mustangs. Looks killer with the gunmetal rims on some of those models. I wonder how it'd look on the smoother lines of a 240sx. . . Mebbe I'll try to get one of my photoshop friends to try and work some magic <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

tha new graphite black would look hott, um, dark blue, silver, cherry red,
I REALLY like the pearly white.

Black.
Black, black, black.
Oh, wait. Or, you could paint it black.
Uhm, what about black?
Have you considered black?
Ya know what else might look nice? Black.
Oh, oh, oh, I know. Black.
Hmmmm... there's also always black.
Actually, any color - as long as it's black - would be nice. =)
Paint it my color "Blurple" as I call it <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
Its blue but it can be sort of purple at times. Kinda sux. If I had it my way I would have a Dark Blue like Porsche has on their cars.

Ahhhh.. the '91. I saw my old car last night. I asked the current owner if it would be alright to drive it - for old time's sake. He let me. I was so happy. =)

That's a cool looking car, I like it better than what I thought a S13 would looking like in yellow. The only thing I don't like is the black stripe.
How come you list 18" wheels running 215 tires? how wide are your rims?

Hey s13girl I had that picture taken right after my car came out of the paint shop and I did not have my 18's yet but and I don't have a digital camera or a scanner. My girlfriend's father let me use his digital camera and I have not had the time to take any more pictures. The car also has a big "GREDDY" Sticker going down the sides with the big Guage all in red and it looks soo good.
My wheels I think are 7 or 7 1/2 inches wide to answer your question with 215 35 zr 18 tires.

Oh by the why that black stripe on the car is the stock one that came, I just had my friend tape it up and left it black because you can't have too much of one color and the black offsets the yellow. Hey I love the way my car looks and I would never change a thing.

My S14 is a pearl white and it looks tight.
But a goddamn hick in a F-150 ruined my bumper, fender and hood. His insurance paid for a paint job and I got a really good body shop to do the work... but now I have 3 little paint chips caused by rocks.. on the hood. Poor quality paint job? Or just bad roads.

Honda's championship white is the best, but i'm biast because i'm a detailer and dark colors are just a huge pain to keep looking new, white is also good because you can spot leaks in the engine bay easier, somehow i always end up with black cars though, but don't get white, because i want to be original
