View Full Version : Clutch master - brand preference?

Did a search on this and surprisingly didn't turn up much.

Went down to run some errands and saw wetness on my floormat; I don't drive my S13 in the rain (it's not a daily) and it hasn't been washed recently and in any case water would have dried up quickly. Got under the dash with a light and it seems my clutch master cylinder is on its way out, as it's pretty clear it's leaking. Nothing in the engine bay yet but it's time to replace it. This car was converted from auto to manual back when it had the KA, right before I bought it; I suspect this was a junkyard MC as it never looked new.

Anyway, I digress. Obviously Nissan OEM is probably the best but I'm hoping to get out of this a little cheaper; the heat pump at my house recently went belly-up and after fixing it I'm pretty cash-poor.

I'm specifically looking at Beck-Arnley or Raybestos, both available through Advance Auto. Anyone have positive/negative experiences with either?

Thanks in advance.

Get one with the best warantee. Then if it goes out you just have to take it back and they replace it. And let them know they should have one in stock at all time cause the reman'd ones usually aren't near as good as OEM. lol

if you buy one from a dealership they usually have a 12month 12,000 mile warrantee

the clutch master is a part you DEF shouldn't cheap out on, don't get that raybestos shit, they have Guatemalan immigrants assembling those in a dungeon. no offense toward Guatemalans or dungeons, but i don't think they meet ISO9001 standards....that's all.

compare the price of the part i linked to the stealership price and you will have your answer.

I say OEM as well. If you can try to get it from Courtesyparts.com, it may be a bit cheaper than from the dealer.

As much as I love going to Advance Auto for quick fixes, like Unicoladron said you don't want to go cheap on such an important part.

Fuck is a warrantee? None of you fools can spell.

OE is the best of course, but any 'new' unit is comparable. A rebuilt unit just seems to be more prone to issues since it's still just an old cylinder with new parts.

check how much is it at Nissan then compare the price to Kragen. Rather pay a little more for OEM = quality. Not like those overprice crap they sell at kragen
