ok this may be little long so ill try to sum up the basics,...i have a 90 240sx fastback SOHC. the previous owner before me had messed with the elictrical harness in the engine bc there is electrical tape all over the maf sensor, injectors..etc. i recently had a check engine light come on throwing a code 45 (fuel injector leak) and when it lights i can smell heavy fuel from my car and my gas mileage sucks. the check engine light is not stable, it comes and goes alot and recently the idle has become irratic that it dips down to about 300 rpm and back up to 700rpm even without the light being on only at a full stop. So i took it to Aamco just for the free diagnosis to see what they get but they called back and said "the light is off there is nothing we can do. theres no sign of leaking injectors visually, but we found that your ignition system is not working correctly. if we change out the system it may or may not fix the other problem, but as of now theres nothing we can do about the injectors being that the light is off." now i havent dealt with this type of problem but all i know is that my key cannot come out of the ignition with reaching inside and pulling up on a gold switch to release it and thats all i know id wrong with it. does this sound right to anybody else? i took the car back home after bc they wanted 350+ for the ignition system and i wanted a little feedback before making up my mind how i am going to tackle this. thanks

well if ur SOHC harness is fucked then ill give u mine just pay shipping...i dont need it...but ur gonna have to connect the wires for the gauges...i need it for my DOHC cluster to work...other than that is a complete harness for free
assuming u want something cleaner that is
\if u need anything from a SOHC i have parts galor.. MAF Starter... Injectors for it

If you smell a "heavy fuel smell" there are four things you need to check:
1). Fuel Pressure Regulator
Check to see if the vacuum line running to the FPR is actually pulling vacuum. You'll need a Factory Service Manual to diagnose if its working properly.
2). Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
The wiring harness & plug leading to your Engine Coolant Temperature sensor may have a bad connection or short in it. Test the harness & plug by wiggling it as the engine is running. If the idle starts to fluctuate as you wiggle the wire, then the harness/plug connector is the source of your problem. You'll have to go to the dealer to get the replacement pins & plug so you can fix the harness/connector. Remember, the ECU takes the signal from the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor to adjust the fuel mixture. A short or bad connection will trick your ECU into thinking that the motor is still cold dumping more fuel into your intake.
3). Oxygen Sensor
You'll have to put your ECU into Diagnostic Mode to test to make sure the Oxygen sensor is working fine. Test it by following the procedures listed in the Factory Service Manual.
4). Fuel filter & hoses
Make sure the hoses leading to the fuel filter & injectors are not cracked & leaking fuel. Also make sure that the clamps tht hold the hoses to the fuel filter & injector lines are tightened properly. A loose clamp or leaky hose can leak gas which can lead to an engine fire.
Anyhow, hope this helps.
