I have a 95' s14 sr20det, and it was running fine until yesterday :-/. When i reach around 1500 Rpm, i hear a grindy noise, something like metal grinding on other metal, coming from under the valve covers. I'm pretty sure its coming from my cams. Anyone know what this could be or mean? I really appreciate it guys! Help me get my car back up and running!:bigok:

-Thanks.

Grinding noises are never good... :ugh: could be oiling issues. try lookin at the cams through the oil filler, or take off the valve cover and take a looksy

Yeah, i had taken off the valve cover, and noticed on the left cam, there we're grooves! Which is a sign of that left cam not getting enough oil! So that little rod that shoots oil onto the cams must have been clogged. I cleaned it and it's still making a grindy noise!

take the valve cover off and have some one crank if over. with injectors unpluged and coils unpluged of course. See if they are all getting oil it will be a nice constant stream.

Alright, i will try to do that tomorrow! Also there is a hard line that comes from the turbo. Mine is leaking and it has green fluid that looks like anti freeze. But im not sure if this line is the Oil return, or the Coolant to the turbo!

well the one circled is the oil drain. Which coolant shouldnt come out of it you do you need a new turbo. Also did you check your oil level?

Oil level was fine, yeah i see green coolant coming out of there, you're 100% positive thats my oil drain? This is the 1st day i got my car up and running since i bought my engine from the shop, and it's doing this.

yup that would be the drain all of the other holes on the turbo are banjo bolts right?

Correct. I took off the oil drain hose today, and when i took it off NOTHING not even one drop of whatever is supposed to be going through there came out. That a bad sign?

yeah oil is suppose to be going through but it might have already drained out. check to see if the turbo has any free play in the shaft

That doesnt sound like a good thing, when there is supposed to be oil running through there. I'll check it, and i honestly have no idea why green fluid is coming out of it....

yeah the one circled and the one 180 from that are oil and the two 90 degree to that one both banjo bolts are coolant. Just try to move the turbo shaft back and forth and up and down .
