What in the hell is going on ? Ive been messing around with 240's since like 98 and Ive never seen prices so high like right now.. I sold my kouki begining of the summer for like 11g's kitted sr and so on.. I thought that was kind of high.. There old ass cars.. Recently Ive been missing my 240 and was looking for a possible new one but fuck that shit.. All these people want a arm and a leg for these cars now.. Its nuts.. STOP THE INSANITY! Your s13's swapped with few bolt ons sport max wheels and megan coilovers ar not worth 13k!!! Stop smoking crack...

Well as we all know from economics class, supply and demand my friend. Plus, there is always some new-jack teenager out there that is willing to pay an arm and a leg for a 240 with sportmax's and a swap because it's hella jdm tyte yo.

I agree with you tho, it's getting a little ridiculous

/\/\ It's the same thing here in Canada. I guess it's supply and demad? Everyone wants a 240sx and there aren't enough to go around... I blame the F&F series for sky rocketing our worthless cars into the floor. Hell, the Black Book value of my car is only $2500... And I payed over double and was called a cheap ass for paying that price. It's a '96 S14 with 176xxxkm on it.
Damn cwd240 beat me to it, lol.

Just because there ARE people who willing to pay stupid prices for it (because they are probably uneducated about it), doesn't really mean it's right imo.

yeah I almost had mine sold for 2900, but the car I was gonna buy fell through so I couldn't sell- i was pissed.

11-19-2007, 03:36 PM
Yeah I understand supply and demand but how many of the cars actually sell? Id have to guess less then 75%.. How many teens do u know that have 13k or there parents do and are willing throw it out there for these cars..? If ya know some one who has parents like that please smack them for me..

Theyre cheaper than ever over here!! You can get a tastefully modified SR S14 for £5K, which is about $10K

For once it sounds like we've got something cheaper than you guys!

when you do sell your car, any car for that matter, wouldn't you want to get the most possible? i mean i'm not about selling a car for 10x what i put into it, but if i invested 12k in my car i have no problem asking 10k for it! why would you cut yourself short on the asking price?

"Car+(total parts-50%)=price"

Sold my 95 with coilovers, KA-t, kouki front with jdm front and back bumpers for 6k back in 2002 and i thought that was a lot. now they go for like that much stock FU*K 0_o

11-19-2007, 03:58 PM
^^^ wow SD240sx... that's a crazy deal. Sounds like you sold at just the wrong time lol.

Jack's right - the people wanting true performance are opting for the 350z platform, and it's just the poor people/bandwagoneers that are buying 240s now. That means you get a bunch of people asking ridiculous prices, and a few people that actually need to sell their cars getting lowballed to hell. It's a cruel world.

I'm selling my 1991 240sx for 1,700. Is that too much to ask? It has all interior in good shape. Primered though, I was going to paint it...

After I totaled my first 240 I was able to get 500 for it, the motor and tranny were out of a 95. It sucked cuz all the guy wanted was the motor and tranny for 500 and I could've striped the car down and made even more money but my parents said no- (again) I was pissed.

11-19-2007, 07:48 PM
IMO it depends on who you are buying from

the asking price of my current car was 7.5k ( 95 zenki, 120k, 4 lug, ..etc ) not that I bought it at that but I didn't get a California S14 price.

Man, this shiet pisses me off. I bought a damn silvia out here with the plan of bringing everything back minus the chassis. Im starting to think that when I come back stateside, I wont be able to find a cheap S14 chassis to transfer everything over. What a waste of a perfectly good S15 engine if I cant find a chassis for it.

Ray~Talk to your HHG office, as the main HQ in the US says they are gonna put a stop to ALL car parts being in the shipment....minus things like belts, hoses ect. And they are going to be hella strict with fees and fines when they are doing the unpacking and find car parts....just some food for thought. May want to look into a container or a pallet.

I bought a s13 with 80k for $700 it had some slight damage to the hood and bumper from rear ending a car with a hitch but no stuc damage and the car had hud..I bought a 90k 95 240 for $2500 gold non se with abs and lsd.. This was all within the past 3 years..I love the s chasis but with drifting and movies alot of teens wanting them and selling them the prices have gotten flat retarded..

Yah im starting to hear that too but right now its still hit or miss locally. A couple of guys shipped back parts with them and no question asked. A guy got his engine left behind (excuse was HAZMAT) but they packed everything else. Ill be bringing back enough to build up 1 car...you guys are bringing enough parts to rebuild like 3987509479579 cars... :bigok:

the new wave of popularity consists of 2 groups:

1.kids who have no concept of depreciation and think they can get for what they put in it
2. ducks w/ cash

and fuk supply and demand, if no one is buying no one is selling. whoever you are stop buying inflated cars and learn yourself some knowledge, its killing us.

Supply and demand kids... Everybody wants to be the new drift king, and 240s are just a little bit nicer than those old ass AE86s, so all the broke'ish people are jumping on the 240 bandwagon.

Give the 350Z a few more years and like Jack said, it will totally be the new 240.

For now, Ill sell my S13 to ya for $5k. :keke:

Yea it's pretty crazy, i live out in Hawaii and everyone over prices their cars here. I just bought my first 240 and its a 98 SE super clean with rims and coilovers, just short a engine swap. the asking price was 10k but i didnt pay that. =) took me 5 days to get the lady to lower the price to where i wanted it, haha....

Yeah, I agree.

It's so HYPE! Especially in Southern California.

No Offense to those previous integra or civic's owners; but i notice they are now selling or trading their cars for a 240sx because its the new "JDM HYPE."

Well thats my opinion.

I did have to replace the baby-vomit encrusted interior however.

I find s13's in the auto auctions everytime I go for dirt. Must put some elbow grease to make it presentable but there aren't any major dings/dents where you have to replace panels and some of them run quite well with a tune up.

If you look around you can still get a 240sx for a decent price. I picked up my S14 for $2500. 140k miles I think that is a decent price.
Much better than my '93 Supra which costs around $40k

I sold a body damaged S13 coupe with an SR swap and a decent, but nothing out of the ordinary, amount of mods (FMIC, fuel pump, clutch, coils, EBC etc etc.) for almost $7g

However, prices around here are inflated... a lot higher then most other places. It was still ridiculous that he offered that though.

Maybe it's because everyone and their mom wants to buy a coupe? I don't know... Haha... but I guess I'm letting my '90 go for a steal? It's barely 2K and has a DOHC and KYB shocks...Anyway, I've been flipping cars for a bit now, and I don't think I overprice at all... Actually, I'm pretty sure I sell for a lot less than your average bandwagon hopper who's realized his dreams of becoming the next DK are nothing but an F&F3 fantasy...

No I wouldn't/don't. I sold my first S13 after I paid $2000 for the car and another $2500 in repairs and I couldn't even get $1000 for it. Even AFTER I showed all the receipts(SP?). My 2nd S13 I sold for $1000 after I had invest about $2200 into it. And, that S13 had no rust with the exception of the hatch under the spoiler. I wanted more for both but I just couldn't sell it for what I wanted.

If you are trying to fixed up 240sx and trying to make profit, there is no way in hell you can make money out of it. Unless some rich little kid is really interested in it. "The more you spend fixing up the car, the less value it will be."

People fixed up their cars for the love and passion about it.

Thats my 2 cents.

No no no, I wasn't trying to fix them up to make a profit. Long story short. I got screwed over on my first 240... shody work covering nasty holes (I didn't know what I should look for). Spent a bunch of money fixing it without realizing it's worth nothing... Never got it on the road. Second car was mint, I had full intentions of keeping it and using it for a DD. Put money into it to get it road worthy. Lost my job, and had to sell it.
I just never made ANY sort of half decent return after selling them.
