Righto so I've found a car near my area and I intend to buy it. It's a Nissan 240sx. At the moment it's for sale at $1,000. The seller claims that the engine and tranny are good, the body on one side is dented, there is no radio or speaker system, and there is rust and the car has been drifted with so the rear tires will need replacement tires. In addition, the Mass Airflow sensor is bad and she can't rev past 2500 before needing to shift. There are 200,000 miles on the engine and body and it's a 5spd, but he said she's been relatively well taken care of, not dragged or anything. Also there is no title, so before anything I'd have to speak to the DMV in my state.
I spoke to him today and from what I gathered he's just trying to get rid of it, most likely put out $1,000 to see what he can get, though his real of objective is to lose it (he said it was a project he didn't want to do or couldn't afford anymore). I was thinking of offering $400 dollars for it, maybe going lower depending on what my mechanic buddy and I see if we go out to see it (all depending on DMV approval). What do you folks think about $400? I intend to go lower upon inspection but at the moment that's my ceiling. If I did go I'd prolly try and get him down to $300.
