Street legal cart maybe...

The Caparo is actually close to being F1 spec. This other thhing is most definitely not.

Still cool I guess. They look kinda funky. :-/

That Caparo is badass. Just looking at the spec sheet makes me drool.

EDIT: I'd rather have a boosted Ariel Atom before that hideous thing posted first. Looks like every cities go-karts for adults.

Why buy one of those when you can buy a ferrari F1 car...

It has to be the supreme object of Formula 1 memorabilia—your very own Grand Prix Ferrari, one careful owner, definitely raced. And it doesn't stop there. Ferrari will remold the car to fit your shape, teach you to drive it, service and maintain it, and replace anything you knock off it while getting the hang of it. In fact, there is a department at Ferrari that exists purely to look after the Grand Prix cars of its customers.

Wow, there were 2 of those street legal F1 cars here in San Antonio but they said they were street legal Champ cars, same difference, and it had a high-revving V8 in it. They looked almost exactly the same as those, even the 2 seater, but V8 which kicks ass. YEAH!

I'd put money on an Ariel Atom going around a track faster then that diamond plated, PS2'd, XM'd and covered in neons, wannabe F1 car. Chances are they cost around the same price too.

I seriously doubt you could register it as a car. Someone in a truck could run right over and decapitate you.

The first picture with no body looks pretty sweet. Maybe add some minimalistic body work like the Ariel and it would look ten times better than it does with that shoddy F1 body.

The only thing that is appealing is the 450hp-550hp in that small of a chassis
It would be sweet if it didn't come with those lame street radials hehe

...But yeah, I think I would be happy with just an Ariel Atom or a Caterham 7 or something along those lines :)

An F1 car has not been tubeframe since 1967. Double wishbones quit being used around 1980... That thing is fucking ugly and has mini truck wheels on it..... Blarg!

Double wishbones quit being used around 1980?? I'm assuming you're talking about suspension arms right? Last I checked ALL F1 teams are running double wishbones.

They are running a multi link and push rod actuation system for suspension. It even says so in the article

ariel atom is the way to go

wootwoot
11-20-2007, 01:00 AM
I had not seen the Atom in "aero" mode before...Curious. Still needs more downforce! Those wings are weaksauce. Why dont they just throw a full body ontop of it making it an actual car? Essentially what the Porsche SpyderRS is. If you have seen the car without the body work it is just an open wheel race car. Why not make one into a ligit street car?

The Caparo is a bit nuts, the first ones seem to burn people alive and break lots. And will cost something like £230k (about $460-470k). But its stupid fast, nearly 10 secs faster around the Top Gear track than an Atom.

Here's my main issue with that abomination the OP posted: 1970 pounds.

Fuck that, I'd just drive a '91 Civic Si hatch if I wanted something under a ton.

Atom, yes, Caparo, yes, Seven, yes, this piece of uniquely American ingenuity, hell no.

Ariel Atom is an awesome car....dunno if its true...but I heard its the product of former FSAE students.

Anyways....the KTM X-bow has my vote.

Composite Carbon Chassis!!!

KTM X-bow vs Ariel Atom.......i'd like to see that in action.

1050lbs for a Formula Ford. Thing is a little bit more heavy then what it should...

indeed. all the other caterham stuff etc isn't F1 status... but then again, i dont think i'd want to drive a F1 on the street... i could understand if i lived in europe where its common to drive your caparo to the track and then back home again...the autobahn would be pretty fun too.

but america = soccer mom's in big suv's on cell phones not paying attention to traffic and next thing you know she's coming straight at you... also ive noticed, the freeways really suck in ca. i never really thought about it until the other day sitting in traffic and you could feel the car basically going up and down up and down over each section of concrete. with the ground clearance of an F1, i dont think i'd have to much fun..

Bobafreak

id buy one just to fuck around in. Though i would be scared driving it in the 909 with all these big rigs and lifted trucks.
