I bought a 1991 240sx a while back. I realized it had a checkmate alarm system installed. SO I bought a remote from a site and it works, sort of. If you press the first button it'll blink and then disable the ignition but no visual representation except a vague blinking red light. If you press it again, it will reenable the ignition. So what the hell does the second button do? how do I get the regular beeping alarm on? Think it could be the door sensors not installed or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The code on the alarm is 311113A if that helps. Thanks in advance.

second botton for some alarms are use for a second channel( open trunk or othe ) sounds like ur alarm is on valet mode. check if ur LED stay on when u turn the car on if is not on valet check your siren maybe is bad
forgot to tell u just in case is on valet mode u need to find the valet switch to turn the alarm back on from valet mode . if is a push button turn on the ignition and press the button untill u see the led turns off , if is flip valet switch do the same and flip switch to on or the other position

Yea I thought it was on Valet mode. So I tried to flip the switch. I know how to do that, flip switch while car is on but not started. So I flipped it once and the light was blinking. That's when the ignition kill thing works. If you flip it the other way it doesn't seem to do anything. No response when I press the button? That's why I thought maybe the door sensor wasn't hooked up or something.

maybe that is all that alarm is wired up to do. Have you traced the wires? is there a siren hooked up?

I'm not sure. I do know that there are two ports on the back that can have stuff plugged in to them. Do you know anywhere I can find a schematic for the Checkmate Alarms?
