im going to be adding a hub in my car and need to bypass the airbag light. so i searched and found out a resistor and two wires would work. now someone said 2 ohms and someone else said 20-30 amp resistor. i dont know who is correct. would be nice if someone could tell me the right numbers. thanks.

Well, I just wanted to warn people since our shop reminds our customer as well. If your insurance, during a crash, sees that the airbag has been disconnected or tampered with, they insurance company has a right to automatically not cover your vehicle or medical bills. Just word to the wise.

So the key is, get in a crash, TOW IT TO YOUR HOUSE! better switch all the steering wheel out back to stock and connect the airbag light.... Don't get pwned, cause one of our customers did....

Are you just trying to turn the dash light off?

To turn the light off:
have door shut
turn key to on position but dont start
open door
press the door open button 7 times
close your and start the car

Or try this thread to fool the computer (be careful)

or tear apart your gauge and take out or cover the light

USAJDM, that is the procedure to turn the light off only if all the components are working. Once he removes the steering wheel airbag, the light will say on unless he can trick the car into thinking there is one by using wires to bypass the airbag. You can buy a steering wheel hub that has the wires to bypass. Dont buy the cheap egay ones. Or you can just remove the light in your gauge cluster.

This is no help whatsoever but over the weekend I just saw an S14 hub with an SRS cancel plug that was included. I can't remember the site but the hub is 101 dollars.

Here is one for 140.00 :(

or just take a piece of black(electrical) tape and put it where the bulb shines thats the cheapest most easy way to not look at the light lol...

definitely dont tamper with any wires.
just take the bulb out, that should be your best bet.
your pass bag will still work that way.

you need to plug the stock socket with a RESISTOR that will emulate the airbag. any store, get a 30amp resistor and 2 wires. solder, plug in, done.

yea Flipzide is right, i still want the passenger airbag and the light off. thanks for the help everyone.

Vision Garage, for sure its a 30 amp resistor?

Slider2828, thanks for the concern, ill probably swap it out if i do get into one.

are you sure its not a 30 ohm resistor? since ohms are resistance and amps are current :hsdance:

^ Bingo. Resistors aren't measured in amperage.

To everyone suggesting to remove the bulb, no one is the thread asked how to hide the light. The OP was looking to bypass the driver's bag and keep the system functional. You all suck at reading.

And no, taking any portion of the system out disables ALL of it.

You could always just buy a Works Bell SRS cancellation plug (shown on left)

I have in stock

They come with all Works Bell hubs that are for cars with SRS (in this case S14)

Works Bell Japan also makes the brand Splash

bullshit

theres a difference between covering your vehicle's insurance vs your 5,000 medical

who cares if they dont cover your medical, thats what health insurance is for

slider2828

I dun think so, because it is not the medical issue, it is tampering with the safety equipment in the car. This is an "in" for the insurance not cover you due to safety concerns on the vehicle....

i have the same problem, my s14 doesn't come with the spiral cable when i got it. I'm just driving with the s15 steering. I want to bypass my airbag, but the harness in under the steering column, it got 4wires, 2 for airbag and 2 for horn. anybody have the replacement for that? i know the spiral cable harness will fit in there, but spiral cable is hard to find nowaday.

i need to bypass this harness shown below:

The white and yellow IIRC. I just sold five cables, you must not be looking very hard.
