I am a little confused about the spearco FMIC. I know that they are sold in pieces and that you have to by the core, end tanks, and piping seprately. Is there any where that sells it as a kit? Would it be cheaper going with spearco over some one like greddy or Hks? Also with a spearco intercooler what size core do you recomend?

You can buy a kit for sr20det motors easily, for $800-1200. HKS, GReddy, and HPI make them. You can also buy them on Ebay and enjukuracing.com. But for a KA, I'm guessing there either isn't enough demand for IC kits, or there are so many different locations to put stuff that they dont make them.

No.. it is the price... kinda like those stupid MasterCard commercials. But I can help you make a turbo kit if you need it.

Probably not for you, if you don't have a good connection with a fabricator.
The only time the Spearco is a better idea than a kit is if you have good access to CHEAP piping. You can get the Spearco in pretty much any size you want, with whatever end tanks you want, and then just make the piping. Otherwise, you just get a kit and bolt it in...however, for a KA24DE, that becomes more difficult. You will most likely need to modify the pipe coming from the IC to the throttle body. And of course you will need to fab a "hot pipe".
So maybe the pricing will be about even after all....

Yea... that dude is correct... but piping isn't so terrible to make yourself. The way most people do it, since mandrel benders are few and far between, is to go to JEGS.com or a speed company and order pre-bent piping pieces. After measuring and ordering, you just cut to size and piece everything together. Of course, if you know someone who mandrel bends aluminum, get that custom, have him make 2 sets, and I will buy the other one!
