View Full Version : BUYING A NEW CAR! :)

So for anyone who cares, my new wife and I have decided against buying a house for a while, as we'd previously planned. Which leaves me able to go car nutty for a few years until we do take the homeowner plunge
So now I'm looking for a new project car to work on, I'm keeping my existing s13 and giving it to the wife upon getting a new ride. So here's my dilemma... as much as I LOVE 240s, I've been seriously contemplating getting a z32tt to play with... it's big and heavy and I wouldn't be able to go drifting anymore, but it's a nice ride none the less.
So my question is:
what would you do? S13? S14a? or z32tt?
I love my s13 hatch, I know it really well now, and I love the looks. The s14a is longer and heavier but still a pretty car, even if it isn't a hatch. z32tt, well, I've just always wanted one
I'd really like to get responses BASED ON EXPERIENCES! Real answers please folks... not just, "i've got a s14, you should get one too", or "go 300xz, cuz they mad tyte y0!"... I'd like to get a decent discussion going on the pro's and cons of all 3 cars Let the comments fly!

I would say go Z32! Yeah the Z32 is heavier but It is a serious sports car with 300 fricken HP out of the box! And handles way better than a S13, although I have never driven an S14. I love my 240, but I've always wanted a Z32TT, they are just pretty tough to find in excellent condition. And If you get one I can live vicariously (sp) through you !

Uhh, i'd say go with s14a. Hatches are nice, but diversity is better honestly, before i bought my car, i was all about the 300zx. I was gonna get one insplace of the s14, but money issues forced me to buy an s14. Well, sure thing its slower. But lately, i've started to notice, that i like the way my car looks more than i like the 300zx. It got more style Plus i got to sit in my friends ride not too long ago, and i thought the 300zx was less comfortable... personal opinion. As for the tt option, you can turbo it and be about at the same point for less money

for less than $2,000 + a Z32TT, you can have a reliable, emissions friendly, 385 horsepower. parts are rather expensive for the car though. and you have to take it to the dealer for certain things that you would think you could fix on your own.

I would go for the S14a....you mean the 97-98 240SX...right?
If so....yea i would go for that car...I love the looks, the handling is better IMO compared to the Z32 and is easier/cheaper to maintain...
It just a nice car stock and even better modded....IMO...the S-14 can be the around, well-rounded sports car...
You can get power, looks, handling all in a nice Japanese coupe package....
get the S14.....

I agree with you here on all points except power... this is my biggest draw to the z32, 300hp stock. the s14 has a measly 155 and is heavier than my s13, it's my last choice as far as power goes, as it would have a newer engine that would be a shame to swap for an SR... there's potential for KA+T, but I dunno, I hear about lots more people blowing KA's than SR's... I'm not looking to start another tired engine debate, but from PEOPLE I KNOW PERSONALLY, that's the way the stats go.
*sigh* why can't I just get an r32 skyline

damn someone start a discussion like this in my thread about keeping it or not
The VR4 is very nice. They are also very expensive... though the price differences could be by a lot in eastern and western WA.

I'm looking at 1st gen at the moment (90-94?), possibly 2nd gen if I can afford it, since they have the 6 speed tranny
