View Full Version : Buddy club spec 2 on KA?

I am considering buying a buddy club spec 2 exhaust, but I am concerned about noise. One guy told me that if you run the silencer it's not that horrible, but another guy told me that it barely makes a difference with or without the silencer. My car is primarily a track car, but it will be driven on the street somewhat regularly, so it can't be retarded loud with the silencer on. Anyone who has run this exhaust on a KA please leave your feedback, Thanks.

The Buddy Club is the loudest exhaust I have ever heard. lol. Like seriously its loud. Everyone that I know who has had one, sold it likke a week later cause it was so loud.

With a silencer it is a lot lot lot quieter, but it does have bad fitment. You might have to spot weld it in if you want to run with it. That's what Duffman did.

I would be bummed if I had to weld in a silencer. I think a silencer from another exhaust works. I saw it on another thread.

idk maybe its just me but i dont think its all that loud. i like mine but i might change my mind after installing my lil brothers apexi hybrid megaphone we just ordered from enjuku though but yeah ur in cali and its diff... i would know cause thats where i'm from but an exhaust is an exhaust. if cops wanna fuck with you they will. get it... i like it. it looks good. its just a standby til i can order my rein hard.

oh yeah... it sounds like shit with the silencer.

exhaust is pretty loud on ka. if i had to buy an exhaust again i would just go custom. i have broken the hangers off mine about 5 times and the fitment is pretty terrible. exhaust bangs rear subframe and right under the driver's seat

i think it depends on what you consider "loud". i dont think its all that loud for what it is ( straight through 3" with n/a ka). dont get me wrong you can definitely hear it but its not so loud that im gonna go sell it asap. i put the silencer on and it did quiet it down. sounded retarded but it did its job. but i do have to agree the fitment is kinda iffy, mine hits the exhaust tunnel pretty bad sometimes. i bet you could go custom for just as cheap, just get some muffler from logan at Aspec and have some shop make you the rest of the piping.

I sold it after 4 days.

You know those Harley's that drive by you with their insanely loud exhausts?

Yeah, it's louder than those.

I love stupid loud. Ive been wanting a BCS2 for a while, but i may just end up going with blastpipes and 3" piping...Or just a 3" straight pipe on the KA.

In my opinion (and opinions are like assholes, everyone has one), I think its pointless for the KA, and I was one of the first people to have it in the US.

It was great on the SR, I swapped it onto my KA DD temporarily (to pass a muffler ticket on the SR car), and it was really, really crappy. I would look at some of the RSR, meagan, Circuit Sports, or even stock. Headers with a stock exhaust on a KA will be a better upgrade.

As far as the silencer goes on the Spec II, F It. It created so MUCH back pressure on the SR it blew it out on the freeway. I would keep the spec II around for cars with upgraded turbos, that need a TON of flow. Steve's car is a good example of this.

I know nikeboy runs one on his ka... ask him i guess.... :(

Yea its super loud on ka but what I would do is get a spec 2. then but a muffler from ASPEC and have a pipe made from the axle back with that new muffler. So you can use that for street and when your at the track or you wanna floss get out the bc straight pipe. Plus spec 2 exhaust isnt that expensive

I've had a Buddy Club Spec II on my 180 and it was really loud. Sounded deep, almost muscle carish. I also had cams in the 180.. I am pretty sure the resonator in the exhaust went to shit though..

I have a Buddy Club Spec II in my 14 and it's awesome! Quiet compared to the Dart Izumi I had which was rediculous. Fitment and quality of both my Buddy Clubs have been extreamly superb.

My friend had a Buddy Club Spec 2 on his EG6. We bought it at a junkyard for 4,000 yen. They had cut the resonator out of it and welded in a fence pipe in it's place. You could hear him go up the road, reach the turn around point and come back as if he was still next to you. You'd go def when he hit Vtec... Best exhaust ever...

Thanks for the replies guys. I found an apex WS noir for a pretty good deal so I think I'm gunna go with that. I think the spec2 is just kinda overkill for a n/a KA. It looks super dope though, but I really don't need to be pulled over every other day. I kinda like the idea of buying a muffler and having a rear pipe made for the street, but I don't think I can afford that at the moment. Besides I like the sleeper look of the WS noir as well. Thanks again.

Well, I hope this makes my boner bigger....

I have some Fencepipes sitting around for my car. Have not put them on yet. They are 100% straight through, whereas the Buddy Club has the resonator in it.

so...we'll see.....

my old exhaust! Sorry to hear you didn't like it too much, I personally liked it on my KA, but it sounded nuts once I went turbo

I have tried every combination on the buddy club spec 2 exhaust and yes it is very loud without a silencer, but with a silencer it sounds a little too baffled but when I drill 4 through the silencer it sounded a lot cleaner with the silencer and I was using a test pipe. But with a stock cat it is very queit. I bought one for my s14 and now Im buying one for my s13.

dosnt sound that bad, my old car was louder, i didnt have the bcs2, i bought the car with it allready with it, all custom 3" from cat, it was called JWZSPEED ,like loud loud ,louder than my friends sr20 with concept rs-r carback, alltho his was deeper mine was higher and way louder, i bought a silencer at RRR and it was a lil loose so i drilled two holes on the side to hold in good cuz i was driving down pch and i gunned it and i hear a pop! my silincer fell out from the one screw holding it in, i deffently feel a diffrence in power, with out the silencer i had really good high end, with it in i had crazy low end , personly i like the loud sound and i live in LA, i never got pulled over. and my car was a SOHC , wasnt loud at 2200rpms but under or above it sounded like a street bike ,havnt yet heard a car as loud, anyone ever heard of JZWSPEED? can i get some info on it?

No no.

I loved that exhaust.

It was just too much of a risk daily driving it around.

Especially with all of the dumbass Honda kids around here.

A few of them were scared off just by the rumble it had.

The turbo probably silenced it a bit and made it sound better. I dunno, I heard Nitin's car and no offense to you Nitin, but it sounded like ass.

It is super loud on a na ka. I love it. SR's and turbo ka's it sounds ok.

Great weight savings, back section is removable with springs which is great when working on the car (sway, diff, etc).
I don't agree with johngriff at all that a stock exhaust is better for performance. Its a nice big exhaust, ka likes to breath.

So original poster yes- it is retarded loud. I don't think there is a louder exhaust you could buy for a ka, especially when coupled with a stainless header.

!Zar!

Stock exhaust is fine.

No worries about getting pulled over.

Now for the track, that's a different thing...

Go custom with a flange at the canister and switch out the mufflers.

i used locking nuts to keep it in. as well as flared out the tip of the silencer with pliers to make it fit better. it also creates much more back pressure giving you more low to mid range torque for daily driving

I don't mind loud. I had an Exmag with a DC Sports header. That was loud. It just doesnt sound good IMO.

If you can find it I'd get a Trust DD. I think there are some places that sell them new for the S13. I got mine for my S14 in Japan. It sounds awesome, it's like the BC SpecII but has an actual muffler and has two pipes.

Perhaps not the best information, but it appears that it has already been established that it is going to be retardedly loud. You could get a used one and cut out the resonator and 3" high flow muffler in it...but at that point you might as well just make a custom exhaust.

11-11-2007, 08:59 PM
is it just as loud for a SR? i just got 1 for my project i havnt heard it yet. shiiittt.... no more reff tickets

Its pretty much a straight pipe. I think its loud but I like ridiculousness so I love it. Dart Izumi is louder tho but more expensive I think and discontinued

This exhaust doesn't belong anywhere close to the streets... It's way too loud...

I drove around with the silencer for about 10 days before the last track event and I got pulled over on the second day... I talked my way out of the ticket but I got the point... Can't drive the car anywhere except the track...

It's not that it's retardly loud but that it pops and farts... Even when you drive slow and even with the silencer in...

On my last S13 I welded up a WRX muffler to 3" muffler shop piping for the street (sounded completely stock with a T3/T4 S14 SR under the hood) and then swapped out the exhaust for an EX-Mag for track days...

Here are a couple of videos of my car with an NA KA and a BC2 exhaust...
