Yo guys, i always come to you zilvians for professional help, and i need it once again! So i was noticing that when i finished my s14 sr swap, that i was missing a vacuum line i believe, and i found it still on the JDM clip. I have no idea what it is, and if i need to be using it? Thanks for help guys!:bigok:

I think that is for the stock boost control solenoid.(boost cut) but I'm not sure though

Thats what i was sort of thinking. I just plugged up the other end on the IC piping! Not sure if im supposed to or not But thanks! LOL anyone else know what it's for?

no one knows what this gadget is?

Looks like its a boost solenoid.

Is it necessary to have on my car? or can i do without it?

That looks like it could be part of the stock boost solenoid setup, but either way you don't need it, you will just run whatever the spring is in the actuator which is around 7-8psi stock. With the solenoid stock SR's run around 9-10 psi I think. The solenoid allows for safety boost(car throws a cell it will run the lowest boost possible, 7psi) and also boost increase with a rom tune or whatever. Most people just get a boost controller and/or upgraded actuator.

Ok sweet! so idon't need it, but in other words i could be pushin more psi with it! lol. Well i need to get my sr tuned, because it doesnt sound like its running right! I think the timing is off. Do you know about how much it would cost me just for a normal tune, or getting the timing back on track!

You don't need to get your car "tuned", tuning is done with some sort of engine management. If you are competent enough to set timing, check for boost leaks, and generally understand whats going on with your car, then by all means ask for help, here is the SR FSM (http://static.carvolution.org/files/S14_SR20DET_FSM.pdf).
However, if you have no clue what you're doing or where to even start, I suggest taking it to someone who does, or finding some friends to help before damaging your new investment.

Very true. I guess i need to find someone! Thanks for you help! Helped me out a lot! Oh and another question, did you check engine light come on after you had the swap done?

:werd: :stupid: Looks like a Map sensor used by the ECU to control boost cut solenoid. RB25 has something almost identical. It's to limit the boost under certain situations, you don't really need it.
Do the timing yourself, just pick up a timing gun and download the FSM that the other guy showed you. There is a process to putting the ECU into timing/idle set mode, like on the KA you have to unhook the TPS, not sure what the process is on the SR (probably the same)... Check for boost leaks like was suggested.

Nice, brother has a timing gun but i guess he says it doest work like it should. lol

no, your check engine light shouldn't be on when the car is running, try pulling the codes (FSM has procedure)

Cool cool! it was on yesterday, then i started it up today and its off! Weird.

you probably disconnected a sensor with the car running which threw a code, then the ECU cleared itself after running for a bit.

Yeah i think that was it! I just pulled the codes from my ECU right now, and it came up as 55, and 55 meaning No Malfunction. Thanks Statik you're a big help!
