So I was talking to the professors in the chemistry building a bit ago (called to fix a leaky chemical trough, it's 30 years old, the whole building is falling apart.)  Anyway I was double-checking the chemical designation for NAAAWWWZZ!

It's NO.  NO2, as I previously thought it was (I feel soo silly) would be Nitrogen Dioxide.  Talked to another source, and she said while the actual laughing gas is NO, she thinks what they stick in cars is a combo of NO, NO2, & NO3.  Just thought you all would like to know.

I'm gona get that tattoed on my arm, N2O. &nbsp;I always call it NO2 (looking almost like nos, i think thats what gets me)
Also, I thought oxide meant 2 oxygen...i never really had chemistry though, so i dono.

I think oxide just means the presence of oxygen in the chemical. I dunno though.

Yeah, oxide means the presence of oxygen in the compound, but the technical name for it is dinitrogen monoxide. &nbsp;Nitrous oxide is another name used for itfor it.
