Miata is a good daily driver if you dont have shit to carry...Why not get an old Toyota pick up or something along those lines? Get something opposite of what you currently have for the sake of functionality. What sort of daily driving are you doing?

i've got an Acura 3.0CL for daily driving. if it was a 2.3CL with a stick, i might be interested in keeping it.. i think i'm gonna sell it and look for a second gen MR2. them's sweet.

Biggest question for your second car is what can you afford? That will narrow it down somemore.

95 Sentra SE-R if I can find it would a decent daily, or like stated G20. Its a sentra, nobody will fuck with it. It wont get stolen or get revved on when im driving down the street.

For baller, again if I can afford it, I want a G35 coupe for a daily. Comfort and styling hand in hand...but in my situation, if i get a G35, I wont have a 240 again cuz i prolly wont be able to afford it since the G35 will eat most of my $$$.

As far as miata goes, other than it being girlie without a hardtop, you will get the itch to mod it.

yea thats what i was worried about, the itch to mod...

but if i got the miata the only thing i would do is get the hardtop and maybe wheels lol

and my budget is around 5k give or take

Hardtop, suspension, wheels, just hope the lack of power wont get to you and make you fuck with the engine.

If youre willing to spend more, i think my boys selling his 92 miata. It pretty much got everything you want and more.

Hardtop, wheels, lowered, paint, brakes and best of all.....SR20det swapped.

Ditch the "itch " to mod and just do what i did...bought an older Volvo for $100. There is almost no aftermarket support for them, decent on gas, 4 doors, great for trips, and with as pokey as they are, you are less likely to speed...also less likely to get pulled over...It is a VOLVO you know > :)

get something you wont be tempted to modify

that is important

a used toyota corolla. I mean late 90's early 2000's. Its a toyota so it should be pretty reliable and they're not that expensive plus you wont get the itch to modify it. or a honda... with the miata there is so much potential you'll start modding sooner or later ... imagine just some rims with a lip, stretched tires and a clean drop... dude you'll be hooked

I drive a 1996 Z3, 1.9L 4cyl AUTO 30MPG and yes its one the most rliable BMW`s:D or cars...

i still cant carry shit around cause its the same size as the miata lol

how much money you wanna spend?

if you wanna spend $1500- to $2K get a good runing civic or G20

$2000 to $3000 get a Acura Integra auto LS, real reliable!!! and"cute" too lol

$4000 to $8000 get a Z3, i use this thing for daly, its not my cup of tea at all! stock suspension with 520 treadwear Yoko(ok for what they are) tires 2000000000 miles tires no grip for SHIT!
but hey its a babe magnet for some reson;)

$8000 to $12000 the ultimate daly driver for the rest of youre life
the TDI! the tdi its a 2.0 Turbo Diesel, dosnt require SMOG! and you can get up to 55MPG on a 5 speed, the Golf, the Jetta, you can make them look bad ass and super beautiful while you beating the gas prices i saw the shit gets 50MPG, the 01 02 03 04 VW`s~! O and they last for ever too!

since storage isnt a issue... try to find a honda insight. they're kinda hard to find though.

w/ a miata you'll probs end up modding it...

all EG civic in america came with sohc, but many have other motors.

for DD get a mid 80's toyota truck with the 22r motor. we have 2 at work, one has 520k and about 6 months ago the head came off for the first time. and one with 485k and the head just came off it for the first time this week. both trucks are pretty slow but almost bulletproof and you can carry all kinds of things

EG with a B-series! If I dropped a B-series motor in it, I'd be WAY too tempted to mod it.

I'd get an older EF civic/crx. I have a crx si as a beater and it works great. Its fairly reliable, gets around 35 mpg average (prob more if i didnt drive it as aggressively), can haul a lot more junk than my 240sx, fun to drive, easy to push, and imo looks good. its also not going to get stolen as often as the EG's, so Id imagine the insurance may be a bit cheaper.

restraint from mods ands swaps are not easy though. I modded my crx once, and then it got stolen. the car was found at the impound, but the fancy parts were gone. no more mods for that car.

as another poster mentioned, late 90's model corrolas are also a wonderful choice. the only drawback is that they look bleh, but it does everything well and hardly anyone wants to steal it iirc.

Get a Honda. Old civic hatch, CRX, anything. Great daily driver and the old ones are known to get 40mpg.

honda accord. has reasonable power/torque, ok styling, parts are easy to find and repair are cheap. roomy and comfortable. it did not get too much attention from thieves compare to other hondas.

basically it has everything you wanted for daily drive. i have a 96 accord and it gets 28 mpg

:ugh:

I had an '88 Celica GT, that thing would NOT die no matter how much I forgot to change the oil (read: changed it once or twice in 45K miles :o ). Great gas mileage, probably the best car I ever owned. But, good luck finding one that's not ugly (meaning, you have to get a hatch), and then, good luck finding one that isn't rusted all to hell :( Early 90s Celicas would be decent as well.

Or a Civic, or a B13 SE-R.

I actually liked the looks of my hatch, with a spoiler and some front lip action it would have looked pretty nice. They're also fairly lightweight; someday I want to find another one, swap in a 3rd gen 3SGE, strip it out a little, build up the suspension and make a poor man's Type R :)
