Ouch that sucks man. I probably should get my car checked out for rust and frame damage too. Though the rust isnt as big of an issue here (in Washington) because they dont salt the roads like they do on the east coast. Good luck in your search for a new coupe. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

The HUD was standard in '91-'93 SE coupes. It's very common. I doubt you'll see a coupe with leather without it.
Installing a HUD in a non-HUD car means replacing or rewiring the entire instrument panel harness.

i've noticed an even amount with and without HUD, but if i come across a good one w/o it, i'll proabably still buy it. however i really, really want to keep the HUD

Well where in the frame is it rusting. Because the "frame" beyond a certain point is really just a place to jack up the car with and serves no real purpose in the unibody. Some of the S13s in Japan didn't even have anything there! Up front though the metal is thick and actually does support the front part of the car. If you ever knock on the metal of the rails under the passenger compartment it is really really thin. It's pretty common for that to rust out.You can have a giant hole back there (I've seen this on a car that spent all it's life in Chicago) and it really doesn't matter. If the front part of the rail where it is thick is rusting I would be worried though.

well it is bad, and the frame is a major strucural support for the car. i was told that if i hot a serious pot hole or bump that i could fracture this particular part, and from the looks of it it wouldnt take too much.
it made me wanna puke.
now i can drive it, i have been driving it. but we have a 3rd car right now, and i'll opt for that , and rest my 240 until i can find another one, this way i cant do any further harm to it either. it's tuff making mature decisions, i dont like having to do it.

Hey man, that sucks but at least you found out now instead of when you're cruisin down the road and hit a big pot hole that fractures the frame.
I agree, mature decisions suck.
