Whats up guys, I'm actually right in the middle of an lsx swap into my 97 240, which i'm hoping to be done in a month or so.

My friend that bought my stock ka has a subaru 2.5rs, which got me thinking, wouldn't it be unique and cool to do an ej20 swap to like an s13? I have absolutely zero knowledge or experience with the subaru stuff, but i do like to be different, and i think this swap would be pretty sweet in an s13.

I dont know, maybe its completely stupid, but i personally think it might be fun to attempt in the future. To me, those boxer 4's just sound bad *** too haha. Does anybody have more knowledge about these motors like mount points, oil pan configuration, blah blah blah.

Any input?

are you looking for an AWD car? or would you plan on deleting the front axels, upgrading the rears, and turning it into a drift car? i love the boxer engine but i am selling mine right now and stepping into the world of the SR. AWD just wasnt fun anymore.

its money/ a lot of custom work...if you have the time money and skills then go for it but your looking at least custom mounts, driveshaft, wiring tranny swap? perhaps plus whatever else there is....I know full race built that awd s14 with a rb26 but i think the swap package starts around 10k before the motor

also the drivetrain in those motors can handle a lot of power stock I believe....or so I heard. I may be totally wrong on that one

Yea, it'd definitely be rwd, i'd just do that thing wrx guys do to eliminate the center diff and make all the power go to the rear.

I'm doing all that custom stuff right now for the lsx swap, so i'm sure i could manage to do it again down the road to do this ej swap.

Honestly, i wouldn't shoot for too much power, i'd just do an up-pipe upgrade, maybe a gt2871r, fmic blah blah...all that good stuff. Maybe look for 320-350 whp.

Something about that sound and powerplant in an s13 seems really really cool to me.

Hi,

I owned a few subys and would say that although it would be unique, it would be crazy hard to do, you will not have enough room without going crazy with cutting into metal and you will be getting a less reliable engine unless you upgrade internals. you will probably be pulling your engine to change spark plugs. You will loose the responsiveness of the SR (dont even get me started about LSx) unless you get the twinscroll headers and turbo which need the JDM oil pan and these three parts alone will be over 2.5K for factory parts. FMIC would mean a lot of lag unless you flip the intake manifold. Aftermarket is a lot more expensive.
If I come off as being negative its because I have been there and would not want to go back. Stick with SR/LSx.

it would be awesome to do in a sil-camino because it has that ballsy sound youd expect from a truck

yeah, won't fit, I just did an ej207 swap into my friends RS, it looks like it would hit the frame rails

this has been talked about a couple times here at the subie dealership, and we decided in the long run it wouldnt be worth it, and the wiring would be a fucking nightmare.

Sweet guys, those were the answers i was looking for. I wondered if it'd be too wide for the car. I'd just been thinking about this for the past few days and figured i'd voice teh thoughts.

Maybe i'll just do an lsx into a gs300 next...vip ftw haha.

Thanks guys.

Because its easier to make more power with an lsx, and less expensive. There's always that part about me wanting to be different too haha.

When i put an FMIC on my Suby i didnt notice a difference in responsiveness whatsoever. everything else you said i can see being a problem.
