I may be potentially purchasing a 240sx that has these two things not installed. I was told that it drives perfectly fine but would be much faster with these installed. With that said, I know you can drive without the knock sensor installed but what about the crank sensor? Thats located in the transmission bellhousing correct? I was thinking to install that myself but would I have to take the engine out? I want to factor these things in when looking at the price of the car and didn't want any surprises. I did some searching and found a guide for the knock sensor, It looks simple enough.

You are REALLY going to need the Crank Sensor (Crank angle sensor? DIZZY???) to drive the car.

He may be talking about the Crankshaft position sensor. Thats on the bellhousing. You can drive the car fine without it
Edit: had the wrong sensor

You will need knock sensor, unless you have an ecu romtune or tunign system that has it disabled.. Missing or bad knock sensor will cause ecu to pull timing to keep you from detonating... It will be slower without it.
I have a knock sensor fs, pm me if you want it.

That makes sense.
