ok guys i have a ka24de for my s14.Everytime i start it after like 30 min. of driving it starts to choke. the rpm starts jumping and sometimes it dies out.i'm thinking it could be the fuel filter because i've been running my car with low gas for a long time now its always on the empty line everytime i drive it and i only gas it up like one gallon every time

Low gas would hurt your fuel pump... I heard that if you can feel your fuel filter and if its hot it means its clogged... Never tried that though... Is it only after 30 minutes of driving that the car starts choking? Check your MAF? Any check engine lights or anything?

Your car would not be considered cold after operating for approximately 3 minutes, gage indicates normal. You may have two conditions currently. The first condition would be when the check engine light started to come on. Check engine light on, means check what code is causing the problem asap, not to ignore it tell the car stops, you start damaging more parts.

I'm guessing, if you pull the code, you have a rich condition. If the rich condition runs long enough with out attention, you can burn up the cat. So, you may have bad injectors, O2 sensor, Fuel pressure regulator, the rich condition, and now a bad cat because of the lack of attention to the check engine light. The extra unburned fuel gets ignited in the cat causing it to raise in temperature, heating up the exhaust pipe, causing the down pipe to glow red hot, and melting the cat honeycomb, choking the motor. When you cool the cat down, the car will run again, but will repeat choking out. You will or may have already toasted your cat, causing the car to run terrible and barely able to get up to any kind of speed. Last I checked the cat for a S14 was around $918 at the dealer. If you live in Cali, it's the only place you can legally buy one. There are aftermarket companies that make the S14 type cat, cat located in the exhaust down tube, but for use in 49 states.

Anyway, fix the rich condition first, pull the codes. If you can locate a good fuel rail with good injectors and fuel pressure regulator, that is the easiest way to check the injectors and FPR. The FPR is a biatch to get to with the motor in the car. If you replace the whole rail with the FPR already on it, the job is easier. If not, search how to check injectors, buy a FPR, and try to get a FSM.

I hope I have helped you. Good luck Dean
