Almost done with this headache of a project.... im trying to torque the rear hubs down (that big 36mm nut) but when I do more than 30ft lbs it takes a ton of force to move the wheels!...yes it is in neutral

Ive got z32 uprights... not sure if I missed a part or something... I was under the impression all I needed as the uprights, strut mount and that cone washer.

Anyone have any idea whats going on?:ugh:

Yes i know all this...

brakes are on... how could the brakes be on too tight?

All I know is the hubs move fine until I tighten that 36mm nut down.

car is on jack stands

are you serious?

if its doing what im thinking..here is how it breaks down:

the z brakes right?
they have inside drum shoes
they are probably stopping your rotoras from turning
rotors are connected to your wheel studs
wheel studs are connected to your hub

get fucking serious.

go pay mechanics
stop doing work yourself

heres a pic... not sure what angle you want me to get.

I also installed those washers that go behind the nut.... in case anyone is wondering

And its not the brakes.... I can move the rotor around slightly while the hub itself can barely move. Nice try aaron

yep
i bet your drum shoes are at lock and thats keeping the hub from turning
loosen up the shoes and should spin free again

if ur ebrake is off and ur buddy isnt playing a joke on you by stepping on the brakes or putting it in gear
it can Only be the shoes holding u up

i recommend u become a NUN
and never touch cars again

also u put that big washer in before the nut on the hub right?

az_240
11-04-2007, 11:54 PM
Yes...

ITS NOT THE BRAKES. The drums are not catching. I can move everything just fine until I tighten down that nut then the HUB ONLY will not move. rotor can still be turned enough to tell its not the brakes.

u are in gear or the ebrake on one side is holding u up

its the drums
not the caliper
the drums
ive seen it happen before to people

remove ur rotors
see if it spins free
if it does
its the shoes

its in neutral as explained in the first post.

not sure how the drums would possibly do this only when I tighten that nut.

there is no way its the e brake drums or the calipers.... I can move the rotor around like 2mm until the wheel studs catch. the wheel studs themselves do not move at all....

Yeah, it does to replace boots I would assume. Fix that ring and you should be fine.

That's a grease seal. It's supposed to be removed from the axle since there's already once pressed into the Z32 upright. You've got the seals binded down against each other.

The one thing I can always appreciate from Dousan is honesty.

Fucking awesome.
